Saturdays are for the boys!!

Last season, I got a real full circle moment. Back when @dancedimensionsmd first opened in 2007, I was the only boy in the studio. In 2012 when I got my first summer teaching gig, @kalen_simpson_ was the only boy in the program. Fast forward to 2022, I finally got the chance to choreograph an all-boys piece at my home studio, AND it was during Kalen’s last season before college.

All of my boys deserve a special shoutout. With circumstances trying to work against you and odds that weren’t in your favor, you all showed up and showed OUT!! I am beyond proud of all of you, and I’m glad to be a part of each of your journeys as males in this space.

Taking it Old School for National Dance Day!! A huge shout out to these dancers from @dancedimensionsmd for not only competing at their very first nationals, but placing FIRST in Mini Lines and receiving a Critic’s Choice nomination! I’m so proud of each of you for all of the hard work you put in this past season!

For #internationaldanceday I’m taking it back to last season. From my first choreography session to his first time performing it on stage. Shoutout to Christion! You’re going places, kid!

Fun fact: this was his first hip hop solo and he learned it in 3 sessions (1 in-person, 2 online).
