“Success is rented. It’s never owned.”

As 2025 draws to a close especially on Christmas Eve, I’m grateful. But truly, the work was never about the title, the award, or the recognition.

This year has been one of the most pivotal seasons of my career. Five years in, I found myself cruising and comfortable. But deep down, I knew I was meant for more. Not just to be a better realtor, but to be a better person. I set this goal at the start of the year with plenty of self-doubt, unsure if I could achieve it, but I committed to giving my absolute best.

The journey wasn’t easy. Some said I was trying too hard. Others said I wasn’t trying hard enough. Many believed. Some doubted. But the noises fade, and faithfulness remains.

🏆🐮
This Millionaire award may have placed me among elite company, but it is not my identity. It never was, and it never will be. I remain the same person — always hungry to grow, grounded in gratitude, and committed to excellence.

I’m deeply thankful to every client, co-broke, mentor, and teammate who trusted me along the way 🙏🏻❤️

My commitment is clear: to serve wholeheartedly, to lead with purpose, and to build people. May my pursuit never be validation from men, but glory unto Him. I am far from perfect, and I know I never will be. Today may feel like a meaningful moment, but I know every season passes, and only what is eternal truly lasts. However good a season, day, or moment, all things must still come to pass.

As the year closes, I’m excited about what’s ahead. If you’re walking a similar journey, let’s connect. May your days ahead always be filled with vigour, purpose, and strength. Your best days are yet to come.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄❤️

Colossians 3:23–24 ✝️ by @rodneytan_

Five years ago, I started my real estate career at @jna.realestate with no car—just a Super 4 motorbike 🏍️. I was unemployed for 1.5 years after leaving insurance, and money was tight. But I got creative—delivering flyers late at night and even wearing a Foodpanda T-shirt for some fun.

The turning point came when I was serving landed buyers 🏠, sweating in a blazer while my clients drove an S-Class. They ghosted me, reminding me that appearances do matter!

Looking back, I see God’s hand guiding me 🙏. The blessings aren’t just material—it’s the growth, learning, and resilience. From delivering McDonald’s at 22 to owning my first EV, every step has been a testament to God’s faithfulness 🙌.

A big thank you to my wife, Michelle 💖, for supporting me through it all. Here’s to more growth, faith, and gratitude in 2025! 🙏

In this video, I spoke about something very personal to me - about me being someone born with a cleft palate. To get to being a realtor today, I had to break out of a lot of insecurities that I carried with me since I was young.

I hope this video is able to inspire someone out there. You’ll never know what each other is facing so be nice to one another :D As much as Social Media is a medium to reach out to more people, it has everyone rushing their goals and comparing themselves to what others have or “seem to have”

Remember, comparison is a thief of joy! I feel that God made me this way for a purpose and Im sure he made you for a purpose too !❤️

Take a peek into what happened last weekend at the Thomson Reserve Launch 👀

Super packed, super busy, crazy queues, but thankful to be able to be here and to help my clients secure the units that they want.

Follow along!! 🚶 by @rodneytan_

Navigating the property market on your own can feel daunting. With so many headlines, opinions and rising prices, it's easy to second-guess your next move.

When Lian Zhou first approached me, we started meeting weekly to make sense of what the numbers meant and what was actually happening in the market. And he was eventually able to pick a property that he felt confident in.

Thank you, Lian Zhou! For your kind words and for trusting me to walk through this journey together with you. Super enjoyed opening Pokemon packs with you too 🤣

📩 If you have any doubts or need clarity on the market for your next decision, my DMs are open! by @rodneytan_

Always grateful for honest conversations with clients like these.

Not necessarily about closing a transaction or making a decision but about clarity for their next move.

Whenever someone comes to me with an opinion or a certain way of looking at the market, I’ll always share my perspective honestly. If I believe there’s a better approach, I’ll tell you, even if it means challenging what you initially thought.

I spend a lot of time studying the market, looking at the numbers and thinking through different scenarios because I genuinely want to help my clients get it right.

It’s not about telling you what to buy. It’s about making sure you understand why you’re buying it. by @rodneytan_

I met this agent when she atteneded one of my workshops for newer agents at JNA and I was surprised to find out that she's actually been in the industry for 14 years.

We had the opportunity to chat after the workshop and honestly, I was blown away by some of the things that she shared with me, especially her perspective from all those years in the industry.

It made me pause and be even more grateful that I've had the privilege to build my journey alongside a team like @jna.realestate since the beginning 🥹

The more people I meet, the more I realise that the environment you choose to surround yourself with really matters.

The right people don't just push you to work harder. They challenge the way you think, share what they've learnt along the way and help you see things from a different perspective.

And sometimes, that environment can make all the difference in how far you go. If you're still looking for a team to grow your real estate career in, DM me and let's connect! by @rodneytan_

A few years ago, @rodneytan_ invited me for coffee. The following year, this guy went on to become a millionaire producer. TWICE.

Invited him to share at our weekly team meeting. Solid guy. Runs his real estate career like a proper business, CrossFits like a beast and shared his experience wholeheartedly.

We walked away with fresh perspectives and plenty of motivation.

Now we all just need to get our hands on that millionaire jacket of his. 😂 by @rodneytan_

Sooooo we pulled a prank on Rodney when we were in Perth...

Pls enjoy 😂 by @rodneytan_

After coaching so many agents, I’ve noticed 3 types of people who tend to do well.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead and coach many different kinds of agents.

Different personalities. Different backgrounds. Different strengths.

And after watching enough people enter this industry, some succeed, some struggle, and some completely surprise me, I’ve started noticing certain patterns.

The agents who do really well often have one of these three drivers.

This person usually has a chip on their shoulder.

Maybe they grew up being told they weren’t good enough. Maybe they were overlooked, underestimated, rejected, or had experiences that made them feel like they needed to prove themselves.

I’ve seen how powerful this can be.

Put a challenge in front of them. Give them someone to compete against. Tell them something can’t be done.

Suddenly, they come alive.

They can work incredibly hard because winning means more than just making money, it validates something inside them.

But I’ve also noticed the weakness of this driver.

Once they’ve achieved what they wanted to achieve, success can sometimes feel strangely empty.

Because if your whole life has been about proving people wrong, eventually you reach a point where there’s nobody left to prove wrong.

This is the one I personally relate to the most.

I didn’t come from a wealthy family, and I think that created a hunger in me that I’ve carried throughout my career.

When you don’t start with much, you approach opportunities differently.

You don’t give up so easily.
You find solutions.
You keep moving even when things aren’t going your way.

And after coaching many agents, I’ve realised that hunger is one of the hardest things to teach.

I can teach someone how to sell.
I can teach someone how to prospect.
I can teach someone how to negotiate.

But I can’t easily teach someone to want it badly enough.

That’s why whenever I see genuine hunger in someone, I’ve learnt not to underestimate them.

They may not be the most talented person in the room.

But give them enough time, and they often find a way.

Then there’s a completely different type.

They’re not necessarily driven by survival or by prov by @rodneytan_

Thought I'd share the story of how I lost $100k over the weekend 💸 Painful one, but there's a lesson to be learnt.

When I touched down from Perth on Friday night, I texted my client about an opportunity that had just come up and asked if they were free for a call.

At 9:52AM the next morning, I got on a call with my client. After an hour, they gave me the green light to go ahead with the unit. That was about at 11AM.

During the call, I checked to make sure that the unit was still available (and it was). But by the time my buyer was ready to proceed at 11:44AM, I got a message saying the unit was already taken.

And what made it worse? It was taken just one minute before I submitted.

So because I waited for 12 hours, I lost a $100k deal.

But here's what I took away from it:
Even after 7 years in this industry, I still make mistakes.

But I've learnt that success isn't about how well you perform on your best days. It's about how quickly you pick yourself back up after the days that don't go your way.

On to the next one. by @rodneytan_
