Excited to be going on the road a week from now to tour with one of my favorite artists, Jason Mraz!! Honored to be subbing on some shows this tour, for my Grooveline Horns brothers, who have been heroes of mine since I was in middle school! Thanks to Carlos Sosa and Fernando Castillo for trusting me and my man Randy Allison to hold it down, while they go and kill it with Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesney! They’re the hardest working horn section in the entertainment industry! And I’ll be happy to see some friendly faces and homies along the way! Stays tuned…
It’s gonna be swingin!!!!

Just have to say what an absolute amazing horn the new Gen 2 8335LA Custom from @yamaha.bandandorchestra is!!! Thanks @gfaccone and the homies at @jlandressbrass for letting me give this beast a spin! I would say this is probably the best horn on the market right now and as a Yamaha player for years , honestly they just keep getting better and better!! Once I’m on the market for a new horn, I definitely know which one I’m getting now!

Back for another video this week. This one is more special this go around because of the untimely and quick passing of my friend Roy Paniagua. Roy was an amazing friend, funny guy and was a great bass player who recorded some of the most important albums in Texas music! He was extremely supportive of myself and others and am going to miss seeing him around.
This horn soli is from the "My Special Album" cut that Jimmy Edward did, with Roy playing bass and writing a few tunes for it.
Here is one of my favorites entitled, "Amor Que Malo Eres"! #trumpet #trombone #Tejanomusic #Chicanosinmusic #fyp by @rogergarcia78

Winding out the summer with a few busy weeks of traveling and gigs! Had just enough time to quickly put this together. An absolute tasteful solo by Fats Navarro on his tune Nostalgia! I remember hearing this in college and was absolutely blown away with his sound and vocabulary. Hope you enjoy my transcription and take on this!

Had an absolute blast last night at the Hollywood Bowl with Tower of Power! I’m always honored to get to share the stage with them and inspired to be on the top of my game every time. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and pure quality musicianship that has been consistent since the first time I heard them! Hope we can do it again soon, it’s gonna be swingin!!!

After a couple busy weeks gigging and traveling, we're back with this week's transcription! This one highlights the genius of one of my heroes, Freddie Hubbard. He cut this solo on the tune Zanzibar, off the legendary album 52nd Street, by @billyjoel ! As requested by @rosedoylemason .This happens to be one of my favorite albums to listen to and this tune is really special as it highlights the crossover of two genres. Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned, more coming soon!!

This weeks transcription is another great @towerofpower feature! This time, it's from when they used to tour with @hueylewisandthenews in the 80's. If you haven't seen any of these videos yet, please go an do yourself a favor! There's so much energy the TOP section uses for these shows it's incredible! Stay tuned for more coming soon! . . #trumpet #trombone #hueylewis #towerofpower #fyp by @rogergarcia78

Back at it after some time off, with an absolute favorite. This is the horn soli from Soul Vaccination off the @towerofpower "Soul Vaccination" Live album. Which happens to be in my top five favorite albums of all time. For this edition, I had some collaboration with a great saxophonist/ band leader out of Texas, @antgsoriano

Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for more to come!

This week is Tejano Edition! As requested by maestro @villa88_nueva , this is one of my favorite Latin Breed tunes, Ay Mujer! I chose this specific clip because I am using the late great Donald Garza’s horn that he is playing in the video. Donald was a great friend and mentor when I was starting my career. And since Fiesta just kicked off in San Antonio, I thought this would be a great way to start off and give tribute to one of the greatest Tejano bands to exist!

This week’s transcription and cover is from a request by @matthewbrendan !!! As one of my favorite horn solis ever, this one never loses its flavor and is feared by many on the bandstand. Hope y’all enjoy Give It To Me Baby by Rick James, from his album Street Songs!
