How’d you keep your pup warm this last cold front?

He hunts his tail off. Yes, I’ll carry an extra coat in for him. by @rolohanson

WHAT A DAY! This boy has earned his keep. Took him to get some extra hens for my bird pin today and that’s just where the fun begins. Got out in a field where some guys had left a few birds behind and Rolo had no trouble finding them.

But here’s the FUN part. We get home and I see the quail that got out of my pin about a week ago standing at the edge of my wood line. I walk Rolo over in a stalk and he catches it and brings it back still perfectly alive and healthy. Back in the bird pin it went! Can’t breed a softer mouth than that! Good boy is eating well tonight! by @rolohanson

National Dog Day! by @rolohanson

On today’s episode of trying to raise quail….

Three wild quail have entered through the recall funnel but one of my own found another whole in my cage. Repairs and progress…..

Rolo claims another. Tracking over 100 yards into the woods, Rolo finds his snack.

Boykins: the most versatile dog alive by @rolohanson

Bird dog update! This bird dogs got birds! After I stupidly let a couple quail escape Rolo made sure they didn’t go “lost”. He continues to impress me with his intelligence and drive. Hoping to grow these few into hundreds so we can have a few great hunts next year. by @rolohanson

First Kayak retrieves!

Perks of having a smaller bird dog. Little guy can move around all he wants and we are still just fine. No adventure that he doesn’t make more fun. Can’t wait to hunt with him this year. #birddog #fishdog by @rolohanson
