Did you know? Dogs can smell your emotions. 🐶

When you’re stressed, scared, or sad, your body releases different hormones and your scent actually changes. Dogs can detect those chemical shifts and will often come comfort you before you’ve even said a word or shown any visible sign of how you’re feeling. 🥹

They’re basically walking emotional detectors with fur.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 🇨🇦

If we are hoping to spend eternity with Jesus, shouldn’t our short lifetime reflect it? I’ve been reading this devotional book by Rick Warren who opens The Purpose Driven Life with four words: “It’s not about you,” and that hits hard here. If heaven is eternity with God, then ignoring Him now is a strange way to prepare for it.

Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21, KJV)

We were made by God and for God, and life only makes sense when we start there. Everybody wants heaven, but not everybody wants God. We’ll make time for work, scrolling, and everything else on the calendar, then give Him whatever is left at the end of the day.

Faith isn’t a ticket we hold on to for later. It’s a relationship we build today. And we know that any relationship with people requires us to spend time. When we love someone, we give our time. Our time is really the only thing we could ever give to God. And the problem is that everything around us wants it too!!

Rick reminds us that this life is preparation for the next. What would change today if you lived like you were already spending forever with Him? :)

Day 5 at Coope San Juan. This place is very heartwarming because we got to stay with the locals and see a glimpse of their life. Families hosted us at their homes and even made dinner and breakfast for us. I was not able to eat dinner as I wasn’t feeling well so I went to get some sleep at my host’s place. Had a headache so I needed to be in a dark place as sometimes I have sensitivity to bright lighting and it triggers my headache.

During the day we hiked a bit to the woods nearby and got to see some insects and animals. The bullet ant was the most memorable part. One bite and you will wish for your limbs to be cut off. We had a local guide with us and he taught us some survival skills but I forgot 80% of what he said. So I guess I’m one of the first ones to die during emergencies. Should have listened. Should have played attention haha.

Got to see plant ingredients that we actually helped make and ate. Forgot the name. It grows in the ground like potatoes tho (see 4th slide). Also seen baby snake and got to hold it. It was a chill and probably traumatized as it’s been handed down to multiple people. We got to see monkeys and sloths too. They’re pretty much everywhere in Costa Rica. I just love nature. :)

We also got to play with the local kids. I lent them my uno cards and they played soccer too. I didn’t play with them tho as I wasn’t feeling well. Not a sports person either. Seen a baby doggy tho which was nice. Ofc I had to pet it. I love doggos!!

The amount of unread books in my shelf is actually crazy. Tbh, I like buying and collecting them fr. Business, finance, faith, personal development, are my favourite genre! What’s yours?

I ‘plan’ on reading all my books and I don’t like lending books that never get returned. Like bro return it to me if you’re either done or given up on reading!! I WANT THEM HOME!

Worry is something we all go through. And the truth is, it doesn’t add a single hour to our lifespan. Growing up as a child, I’ve never worried about my needs. I had faith my parents would provide everything I needed. It’s the same way with God, He literally is Jehovah Jireh the provider. He is a good Father. And that’s been true for me as I am a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and goodness.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness ✨

Day 4 in Costa Rica. Still in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. This place is paradise. One of my favourite spots in Costa Rica. My day started with Mark, a stranger I got to chat with over breakfast. We had another breakfast consisting of croissants and coffee while yapping.

Then my friends and I rented bikes and then I went biking with my friends to a short hiking spot by the beach. Biking actually feels like I’m a local and I get to see things I normally wouldn’t be able to see while in a bus or car. I just get to actually take in the environment and have more awareness of the people, culture, and beautiful scenery. 🫶

At the beach, I got a coconut drink and a massage with Rica. We also used the swing which added to the vibe of the place. Bought some handmade stuff and ice cream from beach sellers. Some people swam in the ocean but I stayed at the beach because I didn’t bring spare change of clothes if I got wet. Still pretty chill though. Got an uneven tan too lol. 😭

It rained at the end of the day. So I took the opportunity to shower in the rain like I used to do when I was a child. I would look up the sky and stare at the stars as rain fell down from the night sky. 🌌 I dragged my bestie Sofia for a photoshoot and memory session with Rica filming and taking photos as we created our customized handshake haha. 🤝

‘I wish I could’ve …’ THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU?! If you are still alive, then you still can. Regret always come at the end. At the end of this life we will not regret the things we did but the things we didn’t do. Because we know inherently we are capable of so much more but we didn’t bother to try. We are not a tree, we can move. We got one shot at this fleeting life. We might aswell create the best life possible. ✨

Practice makes progress. I think we’re all scared of trying new things because of failure. But failure is literally how we learn and be better. One of the best things we can do for ourselves is to just show up. And the more we show up, we get better until mastery. Because a master at anything was once a student.

One hobby I’ve come to like lately is rock climbing and bouldering. It’s actually good for my brain. The way I need a certain technique or creativity to climb successfully. And when I get to the top, I get a sense of fulfillment and dopamine. I think people with ADHD would benefit and enjoy this kind of sport. ✨
