Had the chance to put our business in the hot seat at the @cbcdragon Dragons’ Den workshop yesterday, and it did not disappoint.

The biggest takeaway: every founder hits walls. The ones who make it are the ones who pivot—who stay authentic, know their market, and aren’t afraid to evolve when the landscape shifts.

I’m fired up to keep sharpening this vision and building what’s next.

Looking forward to working with you on this, @lafleur

Deep appreciation to @rudemamahotsauce for the masterclass in using analogy and resonance in a pitch—turning a good story into one that actually lands.

Huge thank you to @professionellehouse for creating this space and opening real doors for founders. by @rootandbalance_

Most of us wake up already behind.

Lou wakes up and looks for the sun.

He isn’t thinking about yesterday’s mistakes or tomorrow’s workload.

He’s not comparing, optimizing, or trying to “earn” rest.

Here’s the reminder he’s giving us:
• You are allowed to enjoy your life while it’s happening.
• One slow, present moment can reset your whole day.
• Rest and pleasure are not rewards, they are required.

Today, take a moment; sit, feel, and let it be enough. If you can’t do it for you, DO IT FOR LOU 🐺 by @rootandbalance_

🙋🏻‍♀️My name is Chenise, creator of Root and Balance.

I help high functioning women break the cycle of burnout and return to sustainable balance through yoga therapy and Ayurveda- so they can lead, create, and live with calm confidence and vitality.

Through immersive retreats, 1:1 mentorship, and online programs, I teach practical frameworks to decode your body’s signals, correct imbalance early, and sustain energy that lasts.

Root and Balance isn’t just about healing — it’s about bringing you back to yourself so you can thrive both personally and professionally.

You can be successful and still feel depleted.

You can love what you do and still realize you haven’t slowed down long enough to take care of yourself.

Being professionally well was created for ambitious women, leaders, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and changemakers who are holding a lot.

Leading. Building. Supporting.

Showing up for everyone else well often times feeling like they’re running on empty.

This is your permission to pause. A chance to step into your room and not have to perform for a few hours.

No pressure. No expectations. Just honest conversation, reflection, nervous system support, and an opportunity to reconnect with yourself alongside other women navigating similar realities.

Only a few tickets remain for what I truly think will be a very special evening.

Where are my professional women at who are ready to pour a little back into themselves? by @rootandbalance_

Most of what we’re told about women’s blood is the bare minimum.

“Heavy is normal.”
“You’re just stressed.”
“Take Advil.”

Ayurveda reads your period very differently.

It looks at your digestion, nervous system, rasa + rakta (fluids + blood), and how you feel before, during, and after you bleed.

In my upcoming Blood Series, I’ll break down why so many women are low in iron, what heavy/painful periods are really saying, and gentle Ayurvedic + yogic ways to rebuild your blood and energy.

We’re not here to drag medicine—we’re grateful for what allopathy can do.

Emergency care, diagnostics, life‑saving interventions: we want women to have access to all of it.

But we are here for the women who still don’t feel well after the lab work, the protocols, and the “everything looks normal.”

The ones who feel dismissed, confused, or like their symptoms are a mystery no one has time to solve.

Our work lives in the “what about them?” space: offering language, tools, and community for the women who fall between the cracks of one‑size‑fits‑all care.

Not anti‑medicine—pro‑you, pro‑context, and pro‑individualized support alongside the system. by @rootandbalance_

We talk a lot about what to eat.

We don’t talk enough about the state you’re in when you eat.

Before a meal, your nervous system is often still in “open tabs” mode—work, messages, to‑dos, conversations.

Do your body a favour: close the tabs and let your body do its job uninterrupted.

From a yogic and Ayurvedic lens, pausing to set intention before you eat tells your system, “We’re safe. It’s time to digest.”

A few slow breaths, a moment of gratitude, and bringing your mind to the food in front of you shifts you toward rest‑and‑digest, where enzymes, stomach acid, and bile flow work more efficiently and absorption actually happens.

You’ll often notice less bloating, better elimination, and more stable energy when your body isn’t trying to multitask survival and digestion at the same time.

Try one simple ritual before your next meal: put your phone away, take 3–5 breaths, silently thank your food, and then take your first bite.

Try this for a week, and let me know what you notice in your digestion and mood 🪄 by @rootandbalance_

Some seasons ask you to rest.

Some seasons ask you to risk.

Either way, the choice is usually the same: stay safe in what you know, or step toward who you’re becoming.

Your comfort zone will always vote for safety. It’s your job to remember you’re here to grow. by @rootandbalance_

We talk a lot about what you eat. But how you drink matters just as much for digestion.

From an Ayurvedic and yogic lens, ice‑cold water is like pouring cold water on a campfire—it weakens agni (digestive fire), tightens the gut, and slows the natural rhythms of digestion and elimination.

Over time, that can look like feeling heavy after meals, bloating, sluggish bowels and more mucus.

Warm or room‑temperature water, sipped steadily, supports your digestive fire, lymph, circulation, and prana.

It keeps things moving without shocking the system every time you drink.

If you’re working on gut health, nervous‑system regulation, or menstrual/hormone balance, “no ice in my water” is one of the simplest daily shifts you can make.

Try 1–2 weeks of warm or room‑temp water and notice what changes in your digestion, energy, and sense of ease in your body. by @rootandbalance_

We were never just friends.

From day one, our conversations went straight from heartbreaks and breakthroughs into systems, solutions, and how to build what we wish existed for high‑functioning women like us.

We’re friends first—but we’ve always been business partners in disguise, turning our lived experience and our studies into spaces, programs, and conversations that actually move the needle in women’s health, burnout and individualized healing. by @rootandbalance_

There’s a certain kind of tired that sleep doesn’t touch.

That’s where shirodhara comes in.

Shirodhara is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy where a warm, continuous stream of oil is poured across the forehead and scalp to calm the brain and nervous system.

From an Ayurvedic lens, it’s especially supportive for stress, anxiety, insomnia, headaches, and that wired‑but‑tired state where you can’t switch off.

By soothing the area across the forehead, shirodhara helps shift you out of chronic fight‑or‑flight and into a state where deep rest, repair, and regulation are more accessible.

If you’re feeling anxious, overworked, or stuck in nervous system overdrive, this might be the next layer of support to explore. by @rootandbalance_
