Please understand red clover isn’t the only herb that can support hormones + pH after your cycle, it’s just one of my favorites and works really well with my body 💕

It’s most known for supporting women through menopause, but it can be just as supportive right after your period.

After your period, estrogen is starting to rise again as you move into your follicular phase.

Red clover contains phytoestrogens, plant compounds that can bind to estrogen receptors, helping support a smoother hormonal shift.

It’s also a gentle alterative, supporting how your body processes and clears excess hormones. This can help things feel more balanced, including vaginal pH.

I add a little agave to mine and drink a cup a day for the first 3–5 days after my period. After that… I’m not as consistent, just being honest lol.

These are 3 pretty easy to find herbs I’d recommend for the most common concerns.

If odor is the concern, I usually recommend parsley because it’s rich in chlorophyll and is more about internal freshness instead of just trying to cover something up. Gongolili is another favorite, but it’s definitely not as easy to find.

If dryness is the issue, I’d recommend fenugreek. It’s rich in mucilage, so think of it like internal moisture support. It can be really helpful when the tissues are feeling dry. It’s a great herb for sexual health in general.

And if itching or irritation is the concern, calendula is almost always the herb I’m going to recommend. Especially in a bath soak, because the herb infused water is coming into direct contact with the tissue externally. You can also make a rinse and use it that way.

The goal isn’t to just throw herbs at a symptom. It’s to choose herbs that actually make sense for what’s going on, while still paying attention to the root cause. 💕 by @rootsherbalacademy

There are sooooo many reasons as to why it can be hard to quiet your mind. Sometimes it’s stress, sometimes it’s blood sugar dropping overnight, sometimes it’s hormone fluctuations, and sometimes it’s simply being overstimulated all day and your nervous system not getting the signal that it’s time to slow down.

But herbs can be extremely supportive.

One of my favorites for nighttime support is valerian root. Valerian works with the nervous system and helps encourage the body to shift into a more relaxed, parasympathetic state, making it easier to fall asleep.

You’ll usually see valerian in tea bags at the grocery store, which is great for convenience. But when you open the bag you’ll notice it’s often a very finely cut version of the herb. Both can be helpful, but the whole herb is usually more potent and easier to blend into your own custom teas.

My favorite sleepy time combo right now is equal parts lavender, peppermint, and valerian root. Lavender helps calm the nervous system, peppermint keeps the blend balanced, and valerian does the heavy lifting and knocks me outtttt.

Everyone’s body is different, so play around with the ratios and see what works best for you. 🌿 by @rootsherbalacademy

The best herb to drink right after your period is nettle.

The most beneficial way to prepare it is as a long, nourishing infusion (steeped 6–10 hours or overnight). In the video I made it as a quick tea (which is still supportive), but a long infusion pulls out significantly more minerals.

Nettle is deeply nutritive. It doesn’t stimulate or detox. It replenishes.

It supports:
• healthy blood building
• energy recovery
• mineral restoration
• reducing that post-period fatigue dip

It’s one of those herbs you can add to almost any blend, but on its own after your cycle? 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Hope this helps 💕💕

Your vaginal pH is basically the environment your good bacteria live in.

When it’s balanced, everything feels normal. When it’s off, you definitely notice.

And honestly it doesn’t take much. Sweat, sex, your period, stress, tight clothing, even switching soaps can throw it off.

Common signs:
• unusual odor
• itching or irritation
• burning
• discharge changes

Boric acid is most commonly used to “fix” it, but the goal is actually to support the microbiome so your body can rebalance on its own.

The herbs I mentioned in the video help soothe tissue and create a better environment instead of forcing a reset.

I’ve been a little MIA the past couple months taking a much-needed reset… but I’m backkkkkk and I have so many recipes + tips I’m excited to share again.

Two herbs every woman should always have on hand: peppermint + red raspberry leaf.

Instead of only focusing on what they do for cramping and bloating, I want you to think about how often you’re drinking them.

Try a cup every 3–4 hours so the herbs stay in your system and can actually support your body.

To make it easier, make a larger batch at once (I usually make about a gallon) so you’re not making a fresh cup every time.

My simple blend:
2 parts peppermint
1 part raspberry leaf

Simple hormone-balancing tea ⬇️

For 1 cup:

• 1 tsp red raspberry leaf
• ½ tsp spearmint (fun fact: spearmint can help lower androgen levels & is perfect for women managing PCOS)
• ½ tsp lemon balm

Easy to make, beginner-friendly, and the herbs can be found at your local grocery store. Add honey or agave to sweeten it up if you’d like.

This is a blend you can enjoy daily for gentle hormonal support. For an extra mineral boost, add in Nettle.

Hope this helps 🤍

First, send this to your bestie + save for your next follicular phase. 🌿

The first few days after my period, I still feel like I’m on my period. My energy’s low, I’m craving rest, and my body’s slowly finding its rhythm again.

The follicular phase is the stage right after menstruation, when your estrogen levels begin to rise, your mood lifts, and your body starts preparing to release an egg. Think of it as your natural reset.

I’m a huge advocate for working with your body, not against it, and herbs help me do exactly that.

✨ Oatstraw to calm the nervous system + gently restore energy
✨ Red clover to support healthy estrogen balance + ovulation

These are my go-to’s (I would’ve added nettle, but I’m all out 😅). Other herbs that support this phase are: holy basil (tulsi) and schisandra

Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any questions, and be sure to follow @rootsherbalacademy for more herbal support for women’s health. 🤍

Peppermint tea isn’t a replacement for proper hydration before a heated class, but it’s great for staying cool during class

Also, you can make this as easy on yourself as possible. You don’t have to brew a cup right before class. Just make a large batch and store it in the fridge, or add fresh peppermint to your water for the same effect.

Peppermint is my personal favorite, but you can also try lemon balm, hibiscus, or even blend all three for extra cooling + calming benefits.
