Like many guitarists before me, I started playing bass thinking it would be easy. I mean, how hard could it be if I already played guitar? Well, it wasn’t; but I fell in love with the instrument.

A few tips if you want to start:

1. Choose the right bass
Comfort is key. Make sure it suits your height, build, and hands.

2. Less is more
You don’t need to play a million notes. Music is a combination of sound and silence; don’t underestimate the huge impact of a well-placed pause.

3. Be one with your drummer
Listen to each other, watch each other, and lock into the groove.

4. Explore dynamics, articulation & timbre
They make a huge difference in your playing. Play closer to the bridge for a more metallic tone, and closer to the frets for a sweeter one.

What would you add to the list? Let me know in the comments! 🎸

Hysteria by Muse — bass cover 🖤

I learned this one when I first started playing bass and remember struggling with it a lot. I was playing it in a different position back then, so I was basically making it harder for myself .

Kinda makes you think how many things we practice the hard way without realizing it.

Ever had a song you were making way harder than it needed to be?

Awesome night at @theirishman.oman ! We played our Limp Bizkit cover for the very first time last night, and we weren’t sure how it would go over, but you guys gave it the best welcome.
Massive thanks to everyone who came out and rocked with us!
Also, shoutout to @mystafernandes for crushing the backing vocals while filming this.
