October 🫶🏼

Slightly delayed because I was waiting for the most important photo.

When I signed up for Hyrox Birmingham, I knew it would be a challenge. I was going to be a new mum, but I think I underestimated just how much crossing that finish line would actually mean to me.

I often put on a pretty tough exterior, but behind the scenes, I’m fighting some huge demons. So, this one means more than I can put into words. I’m incredibly proud of myself, and I’ll never be able to thank Rich enough for being right there by my side at the finish line. ❤️

From the outside, I’ve had people say, “Oh, you’re one of those… you do Hyrox” and “It’s a bit culty” 😂 Honestly, I get it but it’s also so much more than that.

This race was for Isaac. For Emily. For proving to myself that I’m still capable of doing hard things. For telling postnatal depression to get in the fucking bin and for silencing that little voice in my head that constantly tells me I can’t, I’m not enough and I’m not good enough.

October has been about turning inwards, putting my family first and slowly learning to find the smiles, the love and the light, even in the darkest moments.

A reminder to myself that even when things feel heavy, I’m still here, I’m still fighting and I’m still capable of more than I give myself credit for. 🤍 by @roseycs91

2 whole months of us 🩵🌈✨ by @roseycs91

8 weeks in and I’m still trying to figure it out.

Nobody really prepares you for what it feels like to become the “other” mum.

The love. The changes. The expectations. The questions you don’t know how to ask. The feelings you don’t always know what to do with.

Then trying to navigate all of this while figuring out where you fit in a family dynamic that already existed before you.

Sometimes I find myself looking for a space where I hope to see someone who understands. Someone whose story looks a little like mine. Someone who can put words to the feelings I can’t quite make sense of.

How you can love so deeply and still feel lost, overwhelmed, disconnected and so unsure?

Honestly, I have no idea how to navigate all these feelings.

Some days I feel okay. Other days, everything feels heavier than I know how to explain. I feel guilty for feeling the way I do because I know how lucky I am and how long I’ve waited for this moment.

I’m learning that love and struggle can exist in the same space.

That I can love my family and still be finding myself within it.

That I can be grateful and still be struggling.

That my experience deserves space too.

I’m sharing this not because I have the answers but because I’m looking for the conversations that seem to be missing.

The stories that remind us we aren’t the only ones trying to make sense of something that can feel so isolating.

I don’t know how to navigate all of this but maybe we don’t have to figure it out alone!
