my beginner journey into streetlifting ā€” month 1 :) Deciding to commit to streetlifting might be the best decision Iā€™ve made this year :) It all started from my Singapore trip in February. My hotel was right next to @scaofficial , so I got an unlimited pass and basically trained there almost every day. After that, I couldnā€™t stop thinking about going back and starting my own streetlifting journey. But I kept doubting myself because of my chronic bicep injuryā€¦i kind of labelled myself as weak, and like i didnā€™t really belong in a space full of such strong athletes. But I decided to stop that thought and just commit. And I signed up for my first streetlifting comp. For 5 weeks straight, I didnā€™t skip rehab once. And now my dip is completely pain-freeā€”even after a PR attempt in the comp :) Streetlifting really brought back a kind of joy I didnā€™t realize I lost. Training early mornings before work, doing my rehab during lunchtime, and getting excited the night before like a kid again hehe. Also really grateful for my coach @nadinemuscleup! I struggled a lot with self-doubt after my injury, so i wanted someone i could feel comfortable opening up to. thank you for being so supportive and for helping me build trust in myself againšŸ«¶šŸ» just sharing this little journey as i go :) still very much a beginner, but thatā€™s kinda the point. I think Iā€™ll document this journey every month.. stay tuned! šŸ«¶šŸ» by @rosie.physio
a little Mt. Fuji day summit vlog šŸ—» So according to my Strava.. my actual moving time was around 5 hrs, but I was on the trail from 9:45am to 6:20pmšŸ¤Ø okay so I spent over 3 hours just eating at the huts šŸ˜‚ so a big part of this hike was basically a food tour hahašŸ· And honestly so grateful! The weather was perfect, the views were surreal, and I somehow made it down before 6:30. Just in time for the annual Lake Kawaguchiko fireworks festivalšŸ„¹! So worth the sunburn haha :) #åƌ士ē™»å±± by @rosie.physio

Officially starting my streetlifting journey with SGSF Novice Open 2026 :) Also, thank you to my long-distance bestie @shainaaryaputri (and cherwin!) for coming to support mešŸ„¹ I was 50/50 about joining at first, but she was like ā€œdude just come, Iā€™ll be there for you.ā€ And that was it! You were such a big reason I found the courage to fly all the way to Singapore, because I knew for sure Iā€™d get to see you again. šŸ«¶šŸ» And also thank you to the amazing organisers @singapore_streetlifting and @scaofficial for making a newbie like me feel so comfortable and at home! everything was so well organised and everyone was so friendly! by @rosie.physio
i was honestly so scared to sign up.. i kept feeling like an imposter, like i wasnā€™t ready or good enough. but deep down i really just wanted to try, even if i failed or didnā€™t perform well. i told myself: whatā€™s the worst that could happen? maybe i fly all the way from hong kong to singapore and canā€™t even do any good weighted dip? so what :D at least i showed up. i knew i wouldnā€™t regret trying. so yeah, a bit of clown energy from me just to prove that fear doesnā€™t have to stop me anymore. and somehow, everything turned out better than i expected. i hit my PRs, and got to meet so many insanely strong but also genuinely kind and supportive athletes. This experience was worth everything .šŸ‡øšŸ‡¬šŸ‡šŸ‡°ā¤ļøāœŒšŸ» by @rosie.physio

The non-competition model :) I recently took part in @daily_cali_ ā€˜s 5th Anniversary Pull-Up Challenge, and I loved that Desmond (the studioā€™s founder) specifically framed it as a challenge. The whole vibe was about pushing our own limits and just having fun. This really resonates with my guiding philosophy. Iā€™ve always believed that life isnā€™t a competition; itā€™s a co-creation. When we constantly compare ourselves to others, we get caught up in what is happening outside of our control. The sooner we realize that there is no winning or losing in the bigger picture of life, the sooner we can shift from a state of constant striving to finding our own flow. Training my mind to focus purely on my own growth process is a fundamental part of my calisthenics journey. Success is not a scarce resource. We can all grow together by lifting each other up. There is no need to compete against one another when co-creation is the way forward. If there is one thing I have gained most from calisthenics, it would be growing stronger with my friends, especially @juanitaau (my champšŸ„‡) and Elodie (sheā€™s not on insta but shes no doubt the strongest woman I know in real life). The three of us started out as calisthenics buddies, but we have since become each otherā€™s support in life.šŸ©· Took advantage of this event to share these kinds of thoughts! Iā€™ve always loved writing, but sharing it openly took a bit of courage. Thanks for readingšŸ™ˆšŸ˜› by @rosie.physio
Recently Iā€™ve been feeling a bit lost and stagnant with my calisthenics progress. Processed the frustration and took some time off. And I guess itā€™s such a human feeling when you deeply care about something right? Came back with a fresher perspective and decided to make this post to celebrate my journey and efforts :) Itā€™s a little reminder to myself that even when it feels like Iā€™m not progressing, Iā€™ve actually come so far. Here are a few reflections on what might have slowed down my progress: 1. Juggling too many goals (definitely the main reason šŸ˜…). I often switch focus ā€” like starting front lever training, then getting distracted too soon out of impatience when I realise itā€™ll take years to achieve. 2. Old injuries and overtraining. Have a shoulder labrum injury + bicep tendinitis in early 2025 after a year of barely training. I got impatient again and tried to rush back to my old baseline, but ended up pushing too soon. Now even a little overtraining makes my shoulder flare up. Itā€™s frustrating, but it also pushed me to learn more about physio and finally take my rehab seriously (which Iā€™m honestly really grateful for) After taking some time off, I made a new program with less training volume and more rehab work. Excited to see how it goes :) 3. Doing too many things at once. A lot of long hikes and treks, bouldering, yoga, aerial classes. I simply like to explore different things. Progress might be slower, but Iā€™ve gained so many different experiences along the way :) The lesson here? Learning to slow down, not force things, and just trust the process . Find joy in the process instead of obsessing over results we canā€™t fully control anyway. šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Iā€™ve been so deeply inspired by Alysa Liu lately. She said, ā€œEvery second youā€™re there, youā€™re gaining something. Thereā€™s nothing to be lost.ā€ Also one of the biggest gains this past year has been finding genuine friendships and a community through calisthenics ( big thanks to @daily_cali_ !) And so yeah i think the mental part of the training is also one of the most fun and rewarding part so far!! by @rosie.physio
I finally finished trekking the 70 km Lantau Trail ā€” something Iā€™d been thinking about for over a year. Iā€™ve always believed that you can only get over discomfort by facing it. To me, there are two kinds of discomfort: one that tells you something isnā€™t right, and another that makes you grow ā€” the kind you can smile through. Calisthenics and trekking both give me that second kind, the ā€œgoodā€ pain. I promised myself that once grad school was over, Iā€™d finally take on the full Lantau Trail. With no trail-running background, I honestly doubted I could finish. It was really a tough challenge ā€” at least 8 hours of hiking per day with a heavy backpack, little sleep, and constant rain under a winter monsoon. But looking back at the footage, I realised I was enjoying through it all. Experiences like this make you grateful for the little things ā€” that first sip of water post-runout, reaching the campsite and eating your camp food after hours of hiking, taking a warm shower when you finally got home. And, of course, time ā€” that rare luxury to pause, take a few days off, and finally complete a dream project. Itā€™s a transformative experience. I realized thereā€™s a kind of suffering that doesnā€™t really feel like suffering. You just have to find what calls to you. (Added some clips & videos from my prep hikes to show Lantauā€™s true beauty beyond the foggy weather hehe) by @rosie.physio
