A late afternoon walk amongst the trees yesterday. I took a wee stroll past the ruins of Mugdock Castle and Mugdock Loch, the low autumn light and long shadows were stunning. I wanted to walk further but crows were getting ready to roost and the light was fading, time to go home .🍂🍁🍂 #mugdock #scottishcastle #woodlandwalk #scotland by @rosie_inscotland

A beautiful day to enjoy the Scottish countryside. #lakeofmenteith #countryside #sunnyday☀️ by @rosie_inscotland

A lucky find. When donating books for a local charity, this happened to be on the shelf & needed a new home so, home it came. I’m looking forward to reading some of these stories over the winter in front of the fire. I’m not sure when or if ever, I’ll grow up. #scottishfairytale #winterreads #seconhand #thechildinme by @rosie_inscotland

A lovely start to a magical day. We too the little ones into the most charming wee shop at the bottom of the Campsie hills. Inside @magpiemaison , Suzanne has created wonderful Halloween displays, her velvet pumpkins & toadstools are stunning. I love the witches hat in the last picture. #magical #samhain #halloween #funday by @rosie_inscotland

I picked these flowers last week and thankfully they’re still hanging in there. Made some wholewheat sultana scones this morning (some for the freezer ). When my mum made scones, she wrapped them in a cotton tea towel until they cooled down to help keep them soft, I still do this and this happens to be one of her old Irish linen cloths, it must be about 60 years old, I remember aunties bringing them back as a gift from holidays, they sometimes were boxed with a ribbon on them, a bit like real handkerchiefs, somehow I don’t think that would happen nowadays. I’ve had this vintage coffee pot for years but now use it for flowers. #vintage #homemade #gardenflowers #happymemories❤️ by @rosie_inscotland

Snippets of a morning walk today. Berries, blue sky, wee lochs, reflections, autumn leaves, mossy logs. Inspired to get some painting done now. #autumn #scotland #october #localwalks by @rosie_inscotland

Magical moments this morning watching the lochs reflection on the trees, it was mesmerising. 🧚‍♂️🌲🧚‍♂️ #simplethingsmadebeautiful #scotland #october #localwalk by @rosie_inscotland

Pink champagne from my own pink elderberry flowers. It was another wedding anniversary for us yesterday(they seem to arrive every year) but, didn’t try this delicious drink until today. I found the recipe on the website of Tin & Thyme under ‘small batch champagne’. I made two wee bottles & would definitely make this again, it was dry, which I like & very, very sparkly. Because I made it in glass bottles, I needed to loosen the tops to release the pressure. I have made elderflower champagne in 2 litre plastic bottles before and know that the pressure can really build up, be careful if you try it. I had a bottle explode, the top flew off but fortunately in was in the garage so an easy clean up 🧹.

For about 10 minutes this evening a golden glow appeared over the fields & trees, it was just delightful while it lasted. #goldenseason #autumn #scotland #simplethingsmadebeautiful by @rosie_inscotland

Here the vintage paraffin lamp that was supposed to be in the last post. Found it years ago in a bric-à-brac shop in Perthshire. #vintage #vintagelamp #kitchenalia #oldtreasures by @rosie_inscotland

A spare pear was the name given to this little creation by Christine @clyde_trash. She made two, sold one & this was the one leftover, I love it. Now that it’s framed, it’s found a place on the kitchen wall under a vintage paraffin lamp (no longer in use) it catches the light beautifully. Bought this during @openstudiosstirlingshire . #seaglass #localart #vintage #vintagelamp by @rosie_inscotland
