It is less a statement than a process. Each project begins with attention—quiet, sustained observation. We take time to understand who our couples are, what shapes them, how they exist together. Before form, there is rhythm. Before design, there is presence. We absorb, then translate— into material, into color, into composition. Nothing is drawn until something is clearly felt. From this, a definition takes shape: of identity, of relationship, of tone. This monochrome wedding emerged from that approach. JP & Bill revealed a distinct language— masculine, composed, and energetic— formed through more than twelve years together. The narrative is form through Brutalist & Masculine Chic aesthetic Planning, styling, coordinate: @theflab.weddingplanner Concept, design, production, flowers @royalswansevent Main photographer @nukia.studio Decoration photographer @thekt.studio Venue: @intercontinentalphuquoc by @royalswansevent
The polka dot is the oldest trick in the book. So we rebuilt it. Flat became 3D. Retro became modern. We ran it through the whole concept — bold enough to own the room, sweet enough to stay hers. Not a pattern borrowed, a pattern reinvented. Swipe to see how far we took it ➡️ Hoàng Lam · Lover, 20 Concept, design, production: @royalswansevent planning & coordination: @theflab.weddingplanner photos: @derossa.studio_ venue: @gemcenter.com.vn by @royalswansevent
A new decade, in the softest shade of pink. We built her a heart to stand in front of — over two and a half metres of hand-tufted velvet, every dimple set with a deep-red dot, a single ribbon of ruffle trailing off into the room like a sentence she hadn’t finished. This is what the start of your twenties should feel like. Not loud — just completely, unapologetically in love with everything. FIELD NOTES — 01. The drawing. Every couple who hires us says yes to a drawing. Not a room. A piece of paper — and the belief that the people who drew it can turn a field into somewhere they will stand on the most-photographed day of their lives. So we don’t draw fantasies. This one was drawn straight onto a photograph of the site. The venue is a campsite; its permanent tents don’t move. We left them in the frame and designed around them instead of pretending they weren’t there. What we were after was a study — a room for reading and for long dinners — built in an open field with the sky for a ceiling. Lamps on the table instead of candles. A wall of botanical specimens, framed like a herbarium. Oxblood curtains pulled back like a stage. Now look at the two white sofas on the grass, with the wool throws. Someone on our team had thought about guests getting cold after sunset. They are in the drawing. They are not in the photographs. They were cut for budget, weeks before the build. That happens on every wedding, and it is most of what this job actually is: deciding, when the number comes back, what the day cannot do without. The lamps stayed. The sofas went. 6 weeks in the workshop. 3 days on site. The first slide is the drawing and the room. The rest is how we got from one to the other. Concept development, design, built, flowers by @royalswansevent Photo: @thekt.studio The most intelligent idea in the drawing, now built. And all of it, at once. The tent staged as a theatre. VY & KHAN — the part we don’t design. We can draw the room. We can build every piece of it by hand, in our own workshop, for months. What we cannot design is how it lands on the two people who walk in. This is Vy, seeing it for the first time. Everything after the first slide is in their words, not ours — including the one we didn’t expect. Khan hadn’t been to many weddings. He wasn’t sure any of this was necessary. Blue Magic was only ever a plan on paper until they stood inside it. Thank you both for letting us share this. Planning: @theflab.weddingplanner

VY & KHAN — a room, in ten frames. Fabric was the whole material. It became sculpture, and the sculpture became architecture — tables laid in an S that no straight line could have drawn, a ceiling that curves where ceilings don’t, and the entire space wrapped in a box of curtain, lit from the floor up so the fabric glows where it lands until it stopped reading as a ballroom. The cake was cast, not baked. Green chairs hold the peace between light blue and butter yellow. Every centerpiece curls the same way the ceiling does. Then the last frame, which is the only one that matters. Art is just the container. What it’s built for is the people standing inside it. Planning: @theflab.weddingplanner

LOOK FOR THE CURL It’s in the line of the air-blown welcome board. In the die-cut that holds every table number. In the floral strings running down the centre of each table. In the ruffle of a cake stand we built by hand. And in the flower installation hanging above the dancefloor, which the 1.8m cake was made tall enough to touch. One gesture, drawn at ten different scales — from something you hold between two fingers to something you stand underneath. That isn’t decoration. It’s a language, spoken consistently for one day. Different spaces. Different people. We don't have a house style. We have a house question: how should it feel to walk in here? This is how we set the mood. Every celebration has a personality — and a personality deserves a room built to fit it. Not a package. Not a template. Not last season's palette in a new colour. Some of these you're seeing full of people. Some you're seeing the way we see them — an hour before the doors open, when the room is still holding its breath. A dinner table nobody wanted to leave. A tea room built for a slower kind of talking. Tables that cross, tables that curve. One palette that announces itself, one that barely speaks above a whisper. If we built the same room twice, we'd be bored. And so would you. Different stories. Same obsession — the room has to belong to the person standing in it. We kept asking how to speak about heritage without making it feel distant or ceremonial. Vĩnh kết đồng tâm — joined in hearts and minds forever. Less a title than a description of what we had already been drawing. by @royalswansevent
