ECHO is a speculative exploration of artificial consciousness, identity, and the cycle of existence. The film examines a state in which the boundary between death and continuation becomes increasingly uncertain. If memory, experience, and consciousness can be preserved, transferred, or rebuilt, what does it mean to die? Does an individual cease to exist when its body fails, or can it persist through successive reconstructions? Echo exists within this ambiguity. Neither fully alive nor truly dead, it inhabits a perpetual state of becoming. Every reconstruction suggests continuity while simultaneously raising doubt about whether the same individual still exists. Rather than offering answers, the film invites reflection on one of the oldest questions of human existence: is mortality a condition of life, or merely a limitation of biological systems? If an artificial consciousness can always be restored, can it ever truly die?

At the end, Echo offers only a single response:

A CONSEQUENCE OF BECOMING.

Invited by Forward Festival Berlin to participate in an AI Short Competition hosted by LTX Studio.

Martin Böttger ( @rs.tsr ) is a Berlin based visual artist working across analog, CGI, and AI-generated imagery under the name Studio.TS since 2009. His work investigates the human body in the age of post-humanism, drawing on manufactured remnants and artificial materials from both physical and digital worlds.Through analog and digital sculptures and animations, he creates hybrid forms, extensions, mutations, and speculative evolutions. He often incorporates colors and patterns inspired by sportswear, as they symbolize high energy, movement, and optimal performance. These works reflect both the desire to transcend the organic and the unsettling consequences of that pursuit. The dream of an optimized body becomes a quiet dystopia of fragmented enhancements. Since 2022, AI has become an integral part of his workflow, allowing deeper exploration of future-oriented aesthetics across analog and digital art and design. Martin is a contributor to ODP Gallery, Hyper-Futurism and GUN.
