We had a great firing! We unloaded the firebox last night and the 2nd chamber this morning. The firebox reached cone 12 flat, and the second chamber to cone 5/6. The first dog in the third slide is a revised @randyjjohnston shino fired to cone 12. The last two slides are my dogs fired to cone 6.

Many thanks to @sanamusasama for getting this firing together, and to the rest of the crew for all of your hard work!

Sana, Casey, and I had a great overnight shift last night, firing off the noborigama around 4:45 am this morning after 35 hours of firing! The entire firing went very smoothly and we finished just one hour over schedule. Cone 12 down in the firebox, and cones 5 and 6 down top and bottom in the 2nd chamber.

We loaded and started firing the Starworks noborigama today! We will be firing the firebox to cone 12 and the 2nd chamber to cone 6, and should be wrapping things up in the wee hours Thursday morning. Sana has been hard at work creating sculptures for both chambers of the kiln and we have a great crew on board!

“Off-Leash!” marks a new chapter in Ryan Osborne’s ongoing exploration of the emotional bond between humans and dogs. Building on his acclaimed Eternal Dog series, originally inspired by the loss of his beloved dog, Ella, this exhibition reflects a celebration of movement, play, and renewed joy.
Through sculptural and expressive forms, Osborne explores memory and connection while embracing the vitality of canine companionship. In “Off-Leash!”, new works expand the series with a sense of freedom and exuberance, capturing dogs as embodiments of warmth, loyalty, and life itself.
These playful, animated pieces radiate energy and affection, inviting viewers to reflect on the comfort animals bring, the memories they create, and the happiness they inspire in the present moment.

Many thanks to Starworks for providing me the time, space, and support to create this large body of work. Funding for this project was graciously provided for by the North Carolina Arts Council, the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, and the Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County.
