The first funeral I ever attended of someone I truly loved was my grandmother Alma Mays, and although she resided in Buffalo for many years she was buried in Brunswick, GA.

I was 14 years old, grieving, struggling to understand death on an entirely new level. Questioning what my life would become because she was the matriarch, without doubt.

During the processional almost every car stopped until we passed. It was something that made a difficult moment a little easier. Seeing how people that did not know my Granny paid respect by simply stopping.

This was in the late 80s.

Today, I'm back in Brunswick and I see there are still a few that hold on to those traditions of old.

What traditions are a part of your upbringing?

Yoooo! This is a Friday Flashback moment from Oct 2021 that I have absolutely no recollection of!

I can't begin to guess who was there with me. 🤣🤣🤣

How Sway? In My Own House. With my own hookah. Not my microphone though. 😂😂😂

Any who... Enjoy this One Woman Show.

“What was erased is about to take center stage.”

Some stories entertain. Others leave you speechless, emotionally shaken, and reflecting long after the curtain falls. They'll break your heart, stir your soul, challenge your perspective, and somehow leave you feeling hopeful, inspired, and uplifted.

ERASED: THE MUSICAL takes you on that emotional journey.

Here's just a glimpse of what awaits you. This is an experience you don't want to miss.

Just another fantabulous Saturday meandering through Atlanta! 💜✨

Looking for things to do in Atlanta? Sometimes the best experiences happen when you have absolutely NO itinerary! Just curiosity, good energy, and a city full of surprises!

Here's where my Saturday took me! 👇🏾

☕ Stop 1 | Coffee Was Black
Walked in for my usual Zion, hot with oat milk, and discovered an AMAZING in-house installation celebrating their collaboration with Adidas! THIS is what I love to see — Atlanta businesses doing BIG things! 👏🏾🔥

🎨 Stop 2 | I Saw Mothership
A creative gem curated by Atlanta artist Fabian Williams! Art, culture, and a whole lot of ATL personality. They even have a drink inspired by the legendary Magic City! If you know, you KNOW! 🍸😉

🎃 Stop 3 | EAV-O-WEEN
A little East Atlanta Village Halloween fun! Caught up with friends, popped into Big Al's Cigar Lounge, and enjoyed some good conversation. Short, sweet, and not pictured!

📰 Stop 4 | Front Porch Press
Off to Grant Park to celebrate 40 YEARS of community journalism, storytelling, and connection! A beautiful reminder that information breeds innovation!

Four stops. Familiar faces. New discoveries. And another reminder of why I absolutely LOVE this city!

Atlanta isn't just a place to visit. It's a city to EXPERIENCE! 💜

So here's your reminder to get out, explore your own backyard, support local businesses, and see what surprises are waiting around the corner!

Atlanta, According to Rue! ✨

💬 What's one Atlanta gem you think I should explore next? Drop it in the comments!
