If you’ve ever wondered who’s behind the magic coming out of our miniature kitchen… it’s these two. ✨ Connecting the foundation of Ruffian’s menu to evolving culinary trends almost 11 years into it.

Jes Monroe (@edible.pantries), our Director of Operations + Executive Chef, has been with us for nearly 4 years. She joined as Sous Chef in June 2022 and quickly became the creative force behind our food a year later. Her Upstate roots and wild imagination help shape the dishes you know and love.

Josh Ochoa (@jojacochoa) is a founding member and the former Executive Chef at Ruffian. After helping open our former sister restaurant Kindred and spending time at Clay in Harlem, he found his way back to us this past December as Sous Chef.

Not only do they bring serious talent to the kitchen, they’re partners in life, too. They met and fell in love not long after Jes joined the team, and have been inseparable ever since—now living with their three very weird cats: Lizzie, Petey, and Francis in East Harlem. 🐾💕 by @ruffian_nyc
