When I started my fitness journey back in 2017, it was never about losing weight or shrinking or fitting into a number on the scale...

It was never about weight loss for me.

All I wanted was to be strong both physically and mentally, so I could carry myself through whatever life throws my way.

My body weight has only gone up over the years and I wear it like a badge of honour.

I have never looked to celebrities or influencers for motivation. What inspires me most is looking back at my own effort and how far my own persistence has brought me.

All the muscles, biceps and abs are just a bonus. They were never the goal. What really changed is my patience, my mindset, and my ability to keep going even when life gets tough.

There’s no finish line in fitness. It’s about showing up, day after day, and making it part of who you are.

If you’ve made it this far, you’re officially an OG. Thanks for reading… I know no one really does these days, but hey, I write anyway :)

Coming from a Muslim background, a lot of what I’ve done isn’t exactly the norm, and it’s easy to forget how far you’ve come when you’re busy pushing boundaries. So this is a reminder - for me and for you - to take a moment to appreciate how much you’ve achieved, especially when it goes against the usual path.

Appreciate your own journey because no one else has walked it quite like you. Pause, reflect, and appreciate the milestones - no matter how big or small.

Even after these milestones, I still feel like there’s more to do, but looking back, I’m proud of the things I’ve done that haven’t been done in GENERATIONS in my family(Khandan).

If you’re on your own journey, take this as a sign to celebrate your wins too, no matter how different they may seem.

Give yourself some credit. Sometimes, the person we need to thank the most is ourselves.

Take a moment today to look back at what you have achieved, especially the things you thought were impossible at one point. It’s not about comparing yourself to anyone else. It’s about realizing how strong, capable, and resilient you’ve become along the way.

Challenge yourself to celebrate your wins, even the ones you rarely talk about.

I always say that the world isn't made for introverts!🙇‍♀️

I was that kid who, through most of her school life, skipped birthday parties to avoid meeting people.🏃‍♀️💨

I am still that person who rather stay at home in pajamas on a weekend, than to go out and party.👯‍♀️
But social media helps introverts like me connect with you guys from all over the world.💁🏼‍♀️🌍

From sharing my life and work with more than 10K of you now seems surreal. I know it is not a big number in today's social media game, but for an introvert with a friend circle of never more than 4-5, it is a huge deal! And it is all because of the constant encouragement from you guys!💯

I've made many friends here, found people I look upto, learnt so much, found more cheerleaders and supporters than I can imagine!👏🥂📣

Recently there have been a lot of new faces here, so I want to take this opportunity to not only thank you guys but to get to know you a little better too!🤩

So, there you go! If you've made it this far, thank you for reading and do leave a little something about yourself in the comments!

Would love to get to know all of you!🐒

9 years of strength training & this is how I look when I don't flex. 😂 All that hard work & my body still has the audacity to look like I don't lift. Being a woman is a humbling experience.

You learn to work with a body that does not always cooperate (but we are still expected to look, feel and function the same every single day. lol)

HOW TO MAKE WATER KEFIR AT HOME 🫙

Ingredients (for 1 litre):
- 1 litre clean drinking water
- 40 to 50 g sugar or jaggery
- 40 to 60 g live water kefir grains (approx 3 to 4 tbsp)

FIRST FERMENTATION (24 to 48 HOURS)
1. Add sugar or jaggery to clean, room-temperature drinking water & stir until completely dissolved.
2. Add the water kefir grains to a clean glass jar and pour in the prepared sugar water.
3. Cover the jar with a clean, breathable cloth secured with a rubber band or the lid. Keep it away from direct sunlight, ideally at 20 to 25°C.
4. Leave it to ferment for approximately 24 to 48 hours. Warmer temperatures can speed up fermentation.
5. Once the water kefir becomes less sweet and slightly tangy, strain out the grains using a clean strainer. Your first fermentation is complete!

SECOND FERMENTATION (OPTIONAL)

If you want your water kefir flavoured & fizzy, then do this: Add a little fruit juice, berries as flavourings to the strained water kefir, without the grains (to the strained water kefir)

- For extra fizz, transfer it to a clean, pressure-rated fermentation bottle and leave it at room temperature for approximately 12 to 24 hours.
- Never use ordinary glass bottles for sealed fermentation, as they can burst from pressure. I burp them often. Refrigerate once ready.

You can also skip the second fermentation and drink your water kefir after the first fermentation.

🤷‍♀️HOW TO STORE WATER KEFIR?
- Store the finished drink in a clean bottle in the refrigerator at 4°C or below.
- I recommend consuming homemade water kefir within 5 to 7 days.
- Open fizzy bottles carefully, preferably over a sink.

🤷‍♀️HOW TO STORE YOUR WATER KEFIR GRAINS?
If you're not making another batch:
- Place the grains in a clean glass jar.
- Add enough fresh sugar water to cover them, using approx 40 to 50 g sugar per litre of water.
- Refrigerate at 4°C or below.

My whole life I’ve heard some version of “you can’t do that” simply because i was born a girl.

And I'm not even talking about big things. It started with stupid shit like you can't wear these kind of clothes as a woman, you can’t sit like that, you can’t walk like that you can't talk like that, or talk slowly, girls shouldn’t say this, you can’t go alone at this time, you can’t travel alone, you can’t ride a geared bike..blah blah blah.

They said women can’t build muscle like men. Sure. I built muscle like a woman. They said I can’t travel solo. I did. I still do. And I’m gonna keep doing it. When my dad couldn’t afford my education, I was told to just sit at home and do a correspondence course. I said fuck that, took education loan, did my bachelor’s, did my master’s and paid off both loans myself. I wanted a scooter to move around when i started working, couldn’t afford that either. Took a loan, bought it, paid that off too. Last year, I even bought my own car. It's a 1st car in the family. My family never owned a 4 wheeler. They said a woman can’t earn more than a man. Today I earn more than anyone in my entire family. They said you need a man to build a house. My foot. And the one I’ve heard all my life "daughters get married and go away, sons are the ones who’ll be there for their parents." Well, i'm the youngest daughter & i'm carrying responsibilities that were never supposed to be mine alone.

I was a rebellious kid & I think I’m even more rebellious now. The minute someone tries to control even a tiny part of my life, something in me is like "yeah, absolutely fucking not".

I’ve worked way too hard to build the life I have today for someone else to come & tell me how I should live it. Nobody owns me. I make my own money, make my own decisions, live by my own rules and I’m not bending myself to fit into some patriarchal bullshit just because that’s how things have always been done.

And I’m definitely not gonna sit in some corner crying that I can’t do something because I’m a woman. If you tell me I can’t, I’ll probably just get more pissed off, figure out how to do it & fucking do it anyway.
