This is what the social running community looks like when it comes together.

The 2nd Annual Runner Awards™ KZN was a spectacular celebration of every stride, from the veterans who paved the way (shoutout to our Lifetime Achievement Awardees!) to the fresh faces taking the scene by storm.

Meet the KZN 2026 Champions, the runners, clubs, crews and businesses who have made an indelible mark on our running culture this year. Every single vote cast by the community proves that this sport is about all of us.

I''ve been part of the running fraternity for about 12years and seeing it evolve the way it has ..is extremely encouraging and absolutely amazing...to see the increase of running groups and crews, the increase of women participation and the increase of activations,innovations/
ideas and events done by runners for runner is astounding...the demand of race entries is telling us that

🏆🎧 AND THE WINNER IS... DJ SKILLZ! 🎧🏆

The beats that carried the KZN running community to the finish line have officially been honoured!

We were thrilled to capture the moment hitmaker DJ Skillz collected his Mzansi Running Song of the Year award at The Durban Runner. “Phumelela” wasn’t just a song; it was the anthem of our running calendar. 💛

Congratulations, Skillz! Thank you for giving us the perfect soundtrack to celebrate every stride. 🥂🏅

Thank you friends and family for the love and support proud moment coach of the year by @runnerawards_kzn

Bengisathanda ukudlulisa ukubonga to @runnerawards_kzn for recognising the work I do in covering the incredible stories of our amazing athletes and runners from across KZN.

Among the many stories I’ve had the privilege of covering recently is that of Siphamandla Maduna (@spha_thisabledrunner), who was born with cerebral palsy. Once unable to walk or speak, Spha, through years of rehabilitation, regained the ability to speak and walk.

But he didn’t stop there. In 2025, he took things a step further by running and completing his very first Comrades Marathon, earning himself a bronze medal! This is just one of the many inspiring stories I’ve been fortunate enough to share through the platform afforded to me by @gagasifm.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every single person who spent their time and money voting for me. Ngiyabonga kakhulu! ❤️

It was an honour just to be nominated, but to walk away with the award means so much to me and my family.

I would also like to congratulate Big Mike and Mzwamandla Zondi, who were nominated alongside me in the Running Journalist of the Year category. It was an honour to share the category with you.

It fills me with immense pride to have either won or been nominated for an award every single year since 2021. I don’t take any of it for granted.

Thank you for the continued support, the votes, and for allowing me to keep telling the stories that deserve to be heard. 🙏🏽❤️
