A typical afternoon captured in Sorrento, locals and tourists alike pause for a midday espresso. The question is, are you taking it in the shade or sun?

Nothing prettier than those bluegrass rolling hills in the early morning and scattered oaks trees.

Thinking of making this into a print. Any interest? by @rvgeveden

Mohammad, a craftsman I met amidst the chaos of the Medina streets of Marrakech. In a place built on noise and motion, his corner on the street was still - the soft rasp of the bow and curls of wood falling at his feet.

In Arabic the craft is called kharrata (turning), or bow-lathe woodturning. Mohammad’s bow string is looped around the wood, and he uses one hand to draw it back and forth to spin the piece of wood one way and then the other. He holds the chisel with his other hand and steadies the blade with his foot to carve.

An incredible display of craftsmanship and mesmerizing to watch. Here he was making some furniture legs and little honey sticks, one of which came home with me.

Playing around in the garden with the morning light. I’ve loved editing digital to have the soft worn-in feel of film 🎞️

I’m currently building out my portfolio to include more hospitality spaces - photographed with the same documentary eye I bring to travel. Less about square footage, more about what it feels like to arrive, settle in, and not want to leave.

If there’s a boutique hotel, B&B, or design-forward home you love that’s ready to share its story, send them my way!

Early morning light in late summer back home in Kentucky. There’s nothing like waking up to dew on the grass, the cicadas and morning birds still singing, and the soft light cutting through old oak trees.

Welcoming the change of seasons and ready to slow down this fall. 🍂 by @rvgeveden

It was a kid summer 🤸🏻‍♀️, exploring and adventuring in our new backyard in the Sierra Mountains, doing all of our favorite things: summiting big piles of rock, sharing trail snacks and well-earned camp dinners, great tent slumbers, enjoying sunsets and catching a few winks of sunrises, and best of all, checking out of our phones.

Here’s a few film photos instead 🐛

What a glorious summer with my love, and lovely friends. by @rvgeveden

A quick day trip from Florence on train was well worth the food, Venetian glass findings at a street market, and this lighting. by @rvgeveden

Recently with @innatstonecliffe on the beautiful island of Mackinac in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. An incredible week! Thank you for having me. by @rvgeveden

Mohammad in Morocco 🇲🇦 . Art doesn’t need a fancy canvas or expensive tools — here, he used nail clippers. It needs creativity, an open mind and heart, and sometimes, only a few blades of wheatgrass 🌾

Chickens roaming free, beehives, and the last tulips of the season hanging on — the open garden at @innatstonecliffe on Mackinac Island was my favorite corner of the property. I kept finding my way back here during my stay, looking to find a few quiet moments to write or just daydream. Though I was likely to find a few kids giving the chickens a run for their money.

From a solo trip to Sorrento last year. I snapped a few photos from the high cliff ledge of the city overlooking the sea. My favorite way to explore a new place, especially solo, is to walk with no destination in mind – to simply get a feel of a place and let your curiosity guide you.

It was how I later stumbled into the home studio of @raffaele_celentano_photo, who just so happened to be in the studio at the time, and spent the afternoon chatting about the craft of photography and looking through old photo books together. His print “Ai Miei Tempi” now sits behind our table to remind me of this wonderful trip.
