๐ŸŽป Stick around for a funny moment at the end! Why are musicians so hard on themselves? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ I recently had the wonderful opportunity to record some live solo violin with my dear friend @le887858 for "The Journey for the Forest Giant", an original track I composed for Ryan Leach's Fall 2026 12 Story Composing Competition! In my humble opinion, Le is THE violinist of all time, and it's always a big privilege to collaborate with him! In this video, you'll get to hear his beautiful solo violin playing on its own before I gradually bring in the full virtual orchestral arrangement. The competition's creative prompt was a stunning piece of artwork by @solidsoulart, depicting a mystical Forest Giant. His artwork was soooo inspiring and really got me excited to write this piece! Dang, Eric, you absolutely killed it, man! There's also a funny little moment from our recording session at the end. I thought Le sounded AMAZING, but apparently he wasn't quite as convinced! ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ A huge thank-you to @le887858 for sharing his incredible musicianship, and to my awesoem composer friend @bhernandez.3 for helping me get the mic setup and volume just right! I also want to thank @ryanleachmusic and the 12 Story Composing team for continuing to organize these awesome competitions, they're really great for the community! Oh, and another huge thank-you to @solidsoulart for creating such amazing artwork! And congratulations to everyone who participated! I can't wait to hear everyone's work! #12StoryComposing #ForestGiant #SoloViolin #OrchestralMusic #FantasyMusic #MusicComposition #BehindTheScenes #GameMusic #VGM #GameDev by @ryanmaternacomposer
Check out the BEFORE (Strings Only) to AFTER (Full Arrangement), and let me know what you think! ๐ŸŽป๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŽถ I'm really excited show you some of the instruments and composition techniques I'm using in a track I'm composing for the upcoming tower defense game Celestial Sentinel! The strings contain the melodic and harmonic foundation, but then the full arrangement wis totally taken over by horns, hybrid percussion, and traditional Chinese instruments (which I felt really honored to learn about and compose with)! Oh, and go check out Celestial Sentinel on Steam! It's coming to Early Access October 28th, and there's some really amazing developers working on the project like @jerrymoushiyumouwang #Vgm #GameDev #ComposerTutorial #CelestialSentinel #GameMusic #GameComposer #VideoGameMusic #VideoGameComposer #Composer #GameAudio #OrchestralMusic #CinematicMusic #HybridOrchestra #ChineseInstruments #Guzheng #Yangqin #Zhonghu #BehindTheMusic #MusicProduction #Soundtrack #RyanMaterna by @ryanmaternacomposer
Hey there! In this short, I wanted to share my original Rescore of a deleted scene from Zootopia (which is just one of the best movies ever, right??) Be honest and let me know how you think I did, and if you think the music captures the right emotion for this scene! ๐Ÿ˜Š I also want to thank the AMAZING composer, mentor, and teacher @peterwritesmusic, as this ReScore was actually an assignment for his MUS 489 Film Scoring class at BYU. I've had the great privilege of serving as a TA for this class, and I decided to participate in the assignments alongside his students! Peter gave me some really nice feedback on this cue (as he always does), and so many of the composition and production technqiues I'm using here are things I learned directly from him or from studyig his music! I am VERY grateful for his knowledge and guidance, and hopefully, we'll have some more fun ReScores from this class to share here in the coming months! โค๏ธ Also, shoutout to @aliaalexanderaudio , who's one of the MUS 489 students. I tagged you, so now you have to share your Zootopia ReScore on here too, mwuhahaha! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ #zootopia #zootopiarescore #rescore #filmscoring #filmscore #filmcomposer #composer #musiccomposer #scoring #scoringforfilm #orchestration #orchestralmusic #cinematicmusic #soundtrack #musicproduction #behindthemusic #disney #ryanmaterna by @ryanmaternacomposer
