INFORMATIONAL MONDAY | WHY IS SPF IMPORTANT?

If SPF isn’t already part of your daily routine, this is your sign to start!

Sunscreen isn’t just for beach days or summer vacations. Wearing SPF every day helps protect your skin from UV exposure, which can contribute to premature aging, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and other signs of sun damage.

And yes, melanin-rich skin needs SPF too! Melanin offers some natural protection, but it doesn’t completely prevent sun damage. Daily sunscreen can also help keep dark spots and hyperpigmentation from becoming more noticeable.

UV rays are present year-round—even on cloudy days—so SPF should be the final step in your morning skincare routine.

Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be complicated. One simple step can make a big difference ☀️⛅️!

INFORMATIONAL MONDAY | WHAT IS MICRODERMABRASION?

Want smoother, fresher-looking skin without any downtime? Let’s talk about microdermabrasion!

Microdermabrasion is a gentle, non-invasive exfoliating treatment that removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It can help improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture, clogged pores, and mild discoloration, leaving your skin feeling softer, smoother, and more refreshed.

While it can be a great option for many people, microdermabrasion isn’t right for everyone. If you’re experiencing active breakouts, open wounds, an active infection, severe inflammation, or very irritated or sensitive skin, it may be best to wait or explore another treatment.

Not sure if microdermabrasion is right for your skin? Send me a DM! I’d be happy to help you figure out what your skin needs 📥!

INFORMATIONAL MONDAYS

SKIN TYPE VS. SKIN CONCERN

Your skin type is how your skin naturally behaves — like being dry, oily, combination, or normal.

Your skin concerns are the things you’re trying to improve or manage — like acne, dehydration, hyperpigmentation, texture, or sensitivity.

Knowing the difference is important because your skin type doesn’t always tell you what your skin needs.

Your skin can be oily and dehydrated.
Dry and sensitive.
Or combination with hyperpigmentation.

That’s why skincare should be based on your skin + what it needs 🎯.

INFORMATIONAL MONDAY | NIACINAMIDE

Let’s talk about niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3.

Niacinamide is a versatile skincare ingredient that can benefit a variety of skin types. It helps support the skin barrier, regulate excess oil, and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and pores.

It can be especially helpful for oily, combination, and sensitive skin, but dry and normal skin can benefit from it too.

The best part? It’s an ingredient that can easily be incorporated into your skincare routine without needing a complicated lineup of products.

As always, choosing the right product and concentration for your skin is key 🔑. by @s.banksstudiobar

INFORMATIONAL MONDAY | HYALURONIC ACID

Let’s talk about one of my favorite skincare ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it helps attract and hold moisture in the skin. It can help leave the skin looking and feeling more hydrated, plump, and smooth.

And yes — all skin types can benefit from hyaluronic acid, including oily skin. Hydration is important even when your skin produces excess oil.

One important tip: apply your hyaluronic acid to slightly damp skin, then follow with a moisturizer to help lock in that hydration.

Simple ingredient, BIG hydration benefits 🤌🏽. by @s.banksstudiobar

INFORMATIONAL MONDAY | SKIN PREP

Good makeup really does start with good skin prep.

For this client, we were working with dry skin, so the focus was on adding hydration and moisture to create a smooth, comfortable base before makeup.

I started by properly cleansing the skin, followed by hydrating and moisturizing products to help replenish the skin and prevent the makeup from looking dry or cakey.

Skin prep isn’t one-size-fits-all. Different skin types require different products and techniques, which is why I always take the client’s skin into consideration before applying makeup.

You don’t need a million products. You just need the right products for your skin and the right steps in the right order.

Healthy, properly prepped skin makes all the difference ⭐️
