Page out of my rough animation sketchbook from my time at @duolingo @inhouse.duolingo. What a joy it has been to bring these characters to life, especially that little green guy. 💚 #duolingo #roughanimation #handdrawnanimation by @sabbott_art
◾2026 REEL I’m officially freelance! It’s been a crazy 5 years since my last reel. I was fresh out of school, a newbie cel animator scared of what the future would bring. I never could have guessed that later that spring I’d meet the incredibly kind and talented people at @gunnerschool. They welcomed me in the studio, and eventually I joined the rest of the team working in-house at @inhouse.duolingo . I’m so grateful I had a chance to learn from so many caring, thoughtful people. Without them, much of this reel wouldn’t be possible. While at @gunnerschool / @inhouse.duolingo I animated everything from hand drawn roughs, rigged characters, and sometimes even a little green owl. I can’t wait to see what the next 5 bring. This past year I’ve become a huge fan of @katseyeworld choreography. Like, obsessed. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Animating this study was super helpful in terms of learning anatomy, simple line work and timing. This was rotoscoped! With the help of myself tweaking some frames here and there, as the intention was to learn timing short cuts I can use in my own animation. This was an incredibly helpful learning tool. Beyond fun and no pressure✨ Everything is truly, Gnarly. One of my first projects as an intern at @gunnerschool way back in June of 2021. Featuring myself, shooting a little ping-pong reference. I remember this animation helped me crack the code on getting most from reference: look for key moments, exaggerate, and only take what you need. Roughs, cleanup and color animated using @tvpaintanim Huge shoutout to @amostillustration for the incredible style frame, and @iansigmon for his direction and compositing. 🖤 #animation #celanimation #handdrawnanimation #tvpaint by @sabbott_art
