Safe Parking LA is honored once again to be awarded a grant from the Elbaz Family Foundation as part of this year’s @la2050 Grants Challenge!

This grant supports our goal to create Connected Safe Parking Hubs that provide reliable Wi-Fi, device access, charging infrastructure, and digital resource navigation at overnight safe parking sites. This project will help people experiencing homelessness access housing opportunities, employment, education, public benefits, and community support during the evening hours when they are onsite.

Thank you to the Elbaz Family Foundation for helping make to make this a reality. Congratulations to all LA2050 Grants Challenge award winners!

You can find our winning proposal now on the LA2050 Ideas Hub at LA2050.org

Safe Parking LA partnered with UCLA Anderson MBA students to improve our organization's donor engagement and fundraising strategy. Over the course of 10 weeks this consulting team worked hard to deliver an amazing final project. We are incredibly grateful for the work of each team member!

SPLA is proud to partner with @UCLAAnderson to more effectively serve Angelenos experiencing vehicular homelessness. This team kept our mission in mind and delivered fundraising strategy that has real world applications.

Safe Parking LA is participating in the LA 5K!

This is an amazing opportunity to spread the word about SPLA mission to end vehicular homelessness, and raise money for our programs and participants.

We have 40 spots available in the LA 5K on March 6th, 2027. Every spot in the 5k is free, and everyone participating will receive free custom SPLA swag!

The fundraising commitment for running the 5K in support of SPLA is $150. The money raised provides stability for our participants through things like AAA memberships and gas and grocery cards.

With your support we can make a difference. To sign up to run with us at the 2027 LA 5K, visit the link in bio.

Case Management is a core part of what we do at Safe Parking LA. Lead Case Manger Anna Ruiz has been with SPLA for over four years, primarily helping veterans find stability and housing.

Our program offers more than just a place to sleep safely at night. Each participant has a Case Manager working on their behalf to help with car repairs, to connect them with services, and to assist with finding long term housing. Every participant has unique needs and our team works hard to find solutions that get Angelenos out of their cars and back into housing.

Thank you to all the wonderful Case Managers on our team, your work truly makes a difference!

🎥 We had our first SPLA movie night!!! We turned one of our lots into a theatre for the night to bring some entertainment and joy to our participants. Volunteers and staff came through to set up an amazing moviegoing experience and we can't wait to host another movie night.

Events like this are possible through the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. If you'd like to contribute to our mission come volunteer with us! We have many different opportunities and information available on our website at safeparkingla.org or at the link in bio.

This summer has been hot! Thanks to @temple_akiba, Safe Parking LA was able to provide water to our participants to get them through the last heatwave. Living in your vehicle can be especially difficult when temperatures skyrocket. Through in-kind donations we can help Angelenos beat the heat and stay hydrated.

If you are interested in contributing water bottles or other in-kind donations please reach out to volunteers@safeparkingla.org.

Safe Parking LA is dedicated to helping families with children experiencing vehicular homelessness. We want to give a big thank you to Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica for their contributions which make a direct impact on our participants' lives.

Continued support for our program truly makes a difference. With steady funding, we can provide our participants with financial assistance, car repairs, case management, and more. We're here to lift up working families when they need it most.

When people call Safe Parking LA for help, we are ready to meet them at a critical moment – often soon after they have lost housing.

The people we serve are often different from what many imagine when discussing homelessness in Los Angeles. They include students, seniors living on fixed incomes, healthcare workers, and people impacted by the downturn in the entertainment industry.

For many, their vehicle is more than a temporary shelter. It is also how they earn a living through gig economy work.

SPLA intervenes during the earliest stages of homelessness, when consistent and structured support can help people stabilize and find housing. By providing a safe place to park, case management, financial resources, and connections to other services, we give participants the time and support they need to rebuild.

The longer someone experiences homelessness, the more difficult it can become to stabilize. SPLA provides a pathway forward before a temporary crisis becomes prolonged homelessness.

While homelessness increased across Los Angeles in 2026, vehicular homelessness declined for the third consecutive year, decreasing 4.7% since 2025.

This contrast matters. Safe Parking programs provide a vital resource for those living in their vehicles across Los Angeles. At a time when more Angelenos are experiencing homelessness, the continued decline in vehicular homelessness demonstrates why Safe Parking must remain a core part of Los Angeles' response.

Still, more than 20,000 people across LA County are living in their vehicles. Sustained funding and community support will allow Safe Parking LA to reach more individuals and families and provide a pathway to stability.
