POSTS STORIES REELS

Four years ago today 🤍 I look back and see a woman who refused to shrink, and a journey that stretched me into who I am today. Columbia University pushed me beyond my limits, but it also taught me that standing out is power. I faced Islamophobia openly, yet I chose to rise through it, not around it. Being the only niqabi to ever attend Columbia is something I carry with pride not for recognition, but for what it represents. I pray every girl who reads this never places her religion second to anything or anyone. I will never compromise my faith to please people. SubhanAllah for every step of this journey 🤍 by @safiaruns

26.2: Borough by Borough: Brooklyn @safiaruns
.
Three months ago I was preparing for the @berlinmarathon when @scienceinsport reached out in regards to my documentary style content with @morethanmilestc .
.
We chatted about how we can tell the stories of the “every-day person” who runs.
.
The individual who works multiple jobs, and still finds the time when there is “no time” to pursue their dreams of running a marathon.
.
This five part series is rolling out highlighting those stories of individuals from all “five boroughs” who are tackling the challenge of the @nycmarathon .
.
Episode 1 features Brooklyn native and LEADER for change @safiaruns , who has been transforming the narrative of “what a runner looks like”.
.
Thank you to @scienceinsport for allowing me to creatively put this together, and to EVERY SINGLE runner out there who may be searching for their “why”, just remember “it’s always more than the miles”.
.
See you tomorrow for Episode 2. 🙌🏻

FIRST MARATHON BABY!26.2 miles in the books⚡️ I’m still on a Runner’s high. Thankful for every part of this journey that perfectly prepared me for this moment. Round 2!?!? by @safiaruns

What a privilege it is to be tired from a challenge of my own choosing. To keep choosing the hard things. To show up, even when it’s uncomfortable. To take up space in places where I don’t look like anyone else. To be the representation I once wished to see. To challenge stereotypes, break barriers, and remind the next generation that they belong in every space they dare to enter.

What a privilege it is to keep showing up, unapologetically as myself. @nycmarathon @isojordin @brooksrunningnyc @brooklynrunningco by @safiaruns

Where do I even begin? 🥹❤️

NYC, you have humbled me, picked me back up, challenged me, and shown me more love than I could ever imagine. What a privilege it is to be part of this incredible community. From the friends I’ve made sharing miles every weekend to the friendships formed on the Staten Island Ferry, my heart is so full.

To my coaches, pacers, and captains, thank you for believing in me, pushing me, and reminding me that I’m capable of doing hard things. Forever grateful for you all.

And to my students, my biggest little cheerleaders, you are one of the reasons I keep showing up. I hope I inspire you to dream big, do hard things, keep trying, and never stop getting better.

Running has given me so much more than medals and finish lines. It has given me friendships, community, purpose, and so much love.

NYC, you will forever have my heart. @waypoint.nyc @aftermiles @nikerunning @girlsrunnyc

A marathon that will alter your brain chemistry in the best way possible! by @safiaruns

4 New York City Marathons 🥹♥️ course PR!!! by @safiaruns

If it was easy, it wouldn’t be New York 🥹♥️ by @safiaruns

Feeling beyond grateful for the privilege of running NYC alongside so many incredible people who inspire me every single day. 🥹🗽❤️

Even more grateful that I get to inspire my students and the next generation of runners to dream big, take up space, and believe they belong wherever their dreams take them. Representation matters. If even one little girl sees me running and believes she can do it too, that means more than any finish line ever could.

And if it doesn’t happen the way you wanted, it will happen in a better way than you ever imagined. Forever grateful for the journey, the community, and the privilege of paving the way for those coming after me. by @safiaruns

What a privilege it is to be tired from a challenge of my own choosing. To have the freedom to pursue something difficult, push my limits, and discover what I’m capable of. And an even greater privilege to inspire little girls and my students along the way, showing them that they, too, can chase big dreams, break barriers, and do hard things. What a gift it is to do something I love while inspiring the next generation to believe in themselves. ❤️ by @safiaruns

New York City, I love you! ❤️

I will never take for granted how running has altered my brain chemistry in the best ways possible. The incredible people I’ve met, the miles we’ve shared, the friendships we’ve built, and the memories we’ve made along the way.

My coaches. My pacers. My friends. This city. My community.

Running has given me so much more than I could have ever imagined. It has changed the way I see the world, the people around me, and myself.

To be able to run through the city I love, surrounded by people who inspire me endlessly, is something I’ll never take for granted.

Forever grateful beyond words. by @safiaruns

The last 10 miler! Wow, I can’t believe this was our final long run together. For the past 16 weeks, I’ve had the privilege of sharing miles, memories, and countless conversations with some truly amazing athletes. So grateful for the incredible coaches and pacers who showed up for us week after week, pushing us, encouraging us, and believing in us every step of the way. What started as a training cycle turned into such a beautiful community. Going to miss these weekends and all the familiar faces so much. So thankful for every mile and everyone who made these 16 weeks so special! @nikenyc 📸: @umpz by @safiaruns
