A cheeky little trip to Brighton 🎡

Last visited in 2008 when I performed in the Brighton Fringe & Brighton Bits. Busy with rehearsals I never quite made it to the beach...I know shock horror 😅

Well I finally did and what a lot of fun we had. I just love this hippie cool place..maybe one day I'll move here ❤️ ✌️

We staying in The Grand, known for its art deco, which my bloke absolutely loves, and since it was featured in Agatha Christie's Poirot, which we are totally obsessed with at the mo ( reruns on Netflix 😉)

A couple of interesting facts:

1. The Grand was one of Brighton's 18th-century coastal fortifications.

2. It was built for members of the upper classes visiting Brighton and Hove and remains one of the most expensive hotels in the city.

3. Among its advanced engineering features at the time was the ‘Ascending Omnibus’, a hydraulically powered lift powered by cisterns in the roof

4. This was the first lift built in the United Kingdom outside London, at a time when only two others had been installed

5. The building itself is an example of Italian influence in Victorian architecture

Now this one most people know 👇

6. The hotel was bombed by the Provisional IRA in the early morning of 12 October 1984 in an attempt to assassinate the prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, during the Conservative Party conference.

7. The bomb exploded at 2:51am. It had been hidden three weeks earlier behind the bath panel of room 629 😲

8. Thatcher survived the bombing but five other people were killed in the attack, including Roberta Wakeham, wife of the government's Chief Whip, John Wakeham, and the Conservative MP Sir Anthony Berry. Norman Tebbit, a member of the Cabinet, was injured, along with his wife, Margaret, who was left paralysed.

9. Thatcher insisted that the conference open on time the next day and made her speech as planned in defiance of the bombers, a gesture that was supported across the political spectrum.

10. The hotel was reopened on 28 August 1986. The ceremony was attended by Thatcher, who spoke at a reception to celebrate the reopening. Norman Tebbit accompanied her.

11. Concorde flew low from the south to salute the opening. by @safron_beck

Anybody else own scruffs?

When I was kid I'd come home from school and my mom would say, go upstairs and change out of your uniform into ya scruffs.

I've kept the tradition and whenever I come home from anywhere I aways change into something comfy.

Moons ago when I worked in promo I'd bring home a branded t shirt or two. It was great for sleeping in or handing to a friend if staying over, though I realised one day that I had a whole draw full 😲 yep, got slightly out of control.

And well here I am again. These days its jumpers that have had their day, so comfy & loveable with their glorous bobbles, but no longer fit for public display 😥

Right clear out underway! 💪 I mean a girl only needs 4 on rotation not 20 right!?! 🙏
