Witnessing the World’s Grandest Chariot Festival – Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025🧿🫶🏻

On 27th June 2025, I witnessed one of the most powerful and divine festivals in the world — the Rath Yatra at Jagannath Puri, Odisha. 🛕💫

This grand event marks the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, as they leave their temple in magnificent wooden chariots to visit their aunt’s home, the Gundicha Temple. But what touched me deeply was the story behind it.

After the Snana Purnima (the ceremonial bath), the deities are believed to fall ill and are kept in isolation for 15 days. Only after they recover, they come out for this sacred yatra — a journey of faith, love, and tradition that lasts more than a month. ❤️

✨ My experience was nothing short of magical:

🔸 At 3 AM, I stood amidst the crowd watching how the chariots were being prepared — the detailing, the devotion, the calm before the storm of celebration. It felt like time had paused in devotion.

🔸 And by afternoon, I got to witness the divine moment when Lord Jagannath’s idol was brought out of the temple and placed onto the chariot. The chants, the energy, the emotion — it gave me goosebumps. The entire city of Puri turned into a sea of devotion.

This festival is not just a ritual — it’s the pride of Odisha, celebrated by over 30 lakh people across the globe who gather here every year. And this year, I felt truly blessed to be one of them.

Jai Jagannath! 🙏💛

Found the coziest corner at The Netwok in McLeod Ganj—steaming coffee, piping hot pasta, and pizza while the chilly mountain breeze rolls in outside. Honestly, could sit here for hours💛
