Tomorrow !
“Under the Bridge” an art and music takeover of @ambientmagicstudios on Saturday May 23. With the help of some friends, you can expect a day full of music, gallery art, pop-up vendor market, live community spray painting, tattoos, drinks and eats, and a full on block party next door, put on by the good folks at @pushmovement involving an indoor skatepark, food carts and more!

and live spray painting (anyone interested) will be open all day! While the music and drinks portion of the event will begin when the block party is winding down around 6pm.

One year ago, this month already! We released Floored Capri’s Navigator album, his third on Organik Recordings. One of the album’s standout track’s is “Crooked” and features live instrumentation from Singapore-based trumpeter and producer Lightlike. What a delightfully wonky, funk-fuelled slice of instrumental hip hop.

Both Simon and I found ourselves feverishly IMing each other one evening across oceans, time zones and countries about how cool it would be to do a remix of “Crooked”. It was the live instrumentation that stood out screaming “flip me, flip me, flip me” with a massive challenge. The hard drive containing the stems, flies, recordings from the session were corrupt and fragmented.

We’ve always been big on less is more, so we went big. We reached out to almost a dozen different producers some from the stable, some from the wild and some from the graveyard. Gave them the reference track, the stems and the challenge, bring your style and flavor to the original elements. Some ghosted us, some gave up (3/4 of the way even!), the half dozen remaining dropped napalm incinerating the crooked feeling we were left with.
