POSTS STORIES REELS

Reintroducing myself — not as someone new, but as someone more connected to who I’ve always been.
Art, culture, and storytelling have carried me through every part of my life — guided by the rhythm of our old people and the old stories written in the sand and sea. My love for the ocean and saltwater grounds me; it’s where creation begins, where my spirit moves, and where I return to find myself.

My connection to community and spirituality runs deep — they’re the heartbeat behind every step and every story shared. These stories and movements aren’t trends — they’re lived, learned, and passed down.

Grateful for the journey, the teachers, and the culture that continues to shape me. Here’s to what’s next. ✨ by @salty_one_here

Before I made my first artwork, I asked myself one question: where do I feel safe?

I grew up loving sport, but on the football field I was vilified because of the colour of my skin. Then it followed me into the workplace as a young apprentice, and out into society and online. For years it felt like a constant struggle, and the feeling I carried was that I didn’t belong in this country.

So I went searching for what cultural safety actually means. The answer came when I was sitting by the ocean, on Country, flying my drone. For me, in that moment, safety was a feeling: being on Country by the water. That feeling led me to create my first artwork in the sand.

I listened to my Liyarn (Spirit), and it brought a creative power to tell this story. I’ve been listening to it, and telling my stories, ever since.

It has grown into something much bigger than I could have imagined. I found my people: humans who share that same deep desire to feel safe and to belong.

Leaning into my connection to Country and my relationship with the ocean has opened my mind, body and spirit, and led to large-scale works that have reached people all over the world.

These 20 shots are five years of that journey, and I’m not done yet.

If you’ve ever searched for a place where you feel safe and seen, I’d love to hear your story. Swipe through and tell me which one stayed with you. 🤍

What an incredible three days in Country. We’ve returned to work this morning with much to reflect on, and even more to carry forward as we continue our team journey to Naples.

From Bondi Beach to Booderee National Park, these three days gave us the chance to step away from the every day as a team to listen, learn and connect more deeply with Country, culture and each other.

The journey began before sunrise on Tuesday on Bondi Beach, with a powerful Welcoming Ceremony bringing together story, song, dance, smoke and the extraordinary Warrior Spirit sand artwork.

For us, this was an opportunity to participate, connect and share in something truly meaningful on beautiful Sea Country. The morning set the tone for three days of learning and reflection, and a deeper understanding of our shared responsibility in representing Australia on the global stage as we journey towards Naples.

Our heartfelt thanks to Aunty Barb Simms and Uncle Sonny Simms for welcoming us to Country, and to Matt Simms and Uncle Paul Gordon for their generosity in sharing knowledge, stories and cultural teachings throughout our journey.

To Lowell, @salty_one_here , @jannawidanceclan , @djiriba_waagura and all the incredible artists, dancers and Cultural Knowledge Holders who have shared with us these last few days, thank you. And to @arthur_athlete , @hecklerhq and everyone who helped bring this journey to life for us, we are incredibly grateful.

This is just the beginning.
