Track and Field been my sport since 3rd grade. It’s seen my absolute best and my very worst. It’s hard to believe that ten years of running has come to an end. So much has come out of this sport: I set a school record in the triple jump (34’5’’) and the girls 4x100 (49.83), which still feels so surreal to say. I even made it all the way to the all-state meet, placing me in the top 15 triple jumpers in Tennessee. It’s more than I ever imagined I could achieve. But most importantly, this sport has given me people. I’ve made some of the most amazing friendships that I will forever cherish. I was so lucky to have the most supportive teammates, on my best and worst days. I will miss them the most. I also had the most amazing coaches, Coach D and Coach Leeper, who have become like family to me. I couldn’t have done any of this without them. It feels like yesterday I was a freshman and so nervous for the first day of practice. But, it’s been four years and my time is up. I hope everyone who comes after me treasures this sport as much as I do. I’ve truly had the most wonderful time. This sport will forever hold a very special place in my heart and a part of me will always be on the track. I don’t want to go, but it’s time to leave. Track and field, I love you and I will miss you so much. by @sam_altizer1
