Samba Montclair 🇧🇷✨
Since 2010

Founded in 2010, Samba Montclair was born from a simple but powerful vision — to create a place where people could experience the true essence of Brazilian culture through food, music, and hospitality.

Rooted in family traditions and inspired by travels around the world, Samba was built with heart from day one. Over time, it evolved into one of Montclair’s most cherished dining destinations — known for its intimate, artistic atmosphere and deeply personal touch.

Samba Montclair proudly became a 100% gluten-free kitchen, dedicated to quality, safety, and inclusivity — making it a place where everyone can dine with confidence and joy.

With strong ties to local farms and fresh ingredients, every dish reflects a commitment to authenticity, creativity, and bold Brazilian flavors.

Through the years, Samba has been part of countless moments — first dates, anniversaries, celebrations, and quiet dinners that turned into lasting memories.

More than a restaurant, Samba is a reflection of passion, resilience, and love for community.

Since 2010 — over 15 years of flavor, culture, and connection. ❤️

Montclair’s own Ilson Gonçalves, culinary director/owner of Samba Montclair, was at the Today show studio making Brazilian cocktails for Kathie Lee Gifford and Jenna Bush.
Gonçalves learned to cook at age 11 by watching his Brazilian mother who had her own restaurant. Now 35, Gonçalves grew up in Blumenau, a small city in Southern Brazil. He regularly goes to the Brazilian markets in Newark’s Ironbound District to hand select the freshest fruits and vegetables for the restaurant’s authentic homestyle dishes. by @sambamontclair

Check out @sambamontclair Latin American Restaurant for lunch or dinner on Park Street in Montclair, NJ. The decor is artsy & rustic & the food was delicious! There were plenty of vegetarian options for my friend, some vegan options for me, & it's a 💯 % certified glúten-free restaurant!

Happy Birthday to our favorite powerhouse, Alison Strong. From lighting up stages to stealing scenes on screen, and somehow still finding time to be one of Samba’s biggest cheerleaders, you do it all with heart and style. We’re so grateful for your support over the years, for always repping gluten-free with pride, and for bringing your beautiful energy into our restaurant and our lives. Here’s to a year filled with more music, more roles, more birthdays worth singing about, and of course, plenty of Samba favorites along the way. We love you, Alison. Happy Birthday. by @sambamontclair

The ultimate test of a restaurant isn’t a food blog. It’s a 7-year-old’s unfiltered reaction. 🇧🇷

We asked the street to name the one restaurant they’d be devastated to lose, and the community immediately pointed to Samba.

The team at Samba heard it, opened their doors, and invited us in to prove exactly why they earned that loyalty.

What we found was a masterclass in true Brazilian hospitality.

Samba understands a fundamental truth: a restaurant doesn’t become a local institution just by serving incredible food. It happens by treating every single person who walks through the door like family.

Watching their team roll out the red carpet for my son
giving him the exact same warmth and attention as any VIP guest showed me exactly why this community protects this space fiercely.

From the perfectly executed dishes to the decadent desserts, every detail at Samba is designed to make you feel right at home.

If you want to experience the gold standard of Montclair hospitality, your table is waiting.

The Skirt Steak Special and Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff are certified lifesavers 🥩🍲 You absolutely need the Bolinho de Feijoada and the sweet Coxinha de Churros to complete the marathon 🥟🔥 Set up shop in their beautiful outdoor area and remember this spot is fully BYOB 🍷☀️

@chefilsongoncalves traveled the globe to master these recipes and his family makes the dining room feel like a true home in Brazil 🏠❤️
