POSTS STORIES REELS

Union of Scum is going LIVE! But we need witnesses!

For one night only, we want you to be part of our live audience, to give us your dirty folklore, your little town’s secret horrors or the stories that never quite made it out of the pub smoking area.

We want to hear about:
• Blokes who’ve been banned from every pub in the postcode
• Shops that haven’t changed since 1997
• Local “celebrities” no one can explain
• The best takeaways with a 2-star hygiene rating
• Men who carry ferrets/parrots for no reason
• Weird festivals no one outside the town knows about
• Strange cash-in-hand businesses that are clearly fronts for something
• And more!

And in case that doesn’t work... We have guests! Drifting in and out like bad smells, we have comedians, wildcards and fat-tongued oddballs.
And it’s all being recorded. Every rancid confession trapped and preserved as part of the Union of Scum YouTube archive.

So come! Bring some friends, and help us shovel some more sludge into the digital landfill of modern Britain! (No refunds). Ticket link in bio.

Dragon 50 - DNF

Absolutely gutted about how this finished.
Really pushed myself from Llantwit all the way through Barry, made up just about enough time to finish before the cutoff before the beach at Sully really fucked me over. I knew I was going to get timed out before the finish and I broke. I regret not just finishing over time now, and I won’t DNF myself unless my knee falls off ever again, but was already kicking myself for the mistakes I made earlier.

I haven’t prepared for anything like I had for this race, and I got most of it wrong. Running through sand is like swimming in jeans. Doing all my long runs late at night seemed like a sensible idea until you’re out all day with pretty much zero tree coverage. Hills? I thought training in penarth would do the trick. Not even close. The uphills were fine, the downhill were horrible. Then it’s flat again, and I’m cooking myself on the top of a cliff. I paced the flats waaaay too slow and just couldn’t catch up enough later. My knee, which really played up in May, behaved pretty well until Porthkerry, where the downhills just finished it.

I’m going to reel in my ambitions and work on shorter trail races, because spamming half marathons twice a week for a month just doesn’t cut it. I might have put the miles in but the terrain humbled me.

Thanks to Anna and my mother for being my ever reliable support crew, who can definitely navigate better on unknown country roads than in the city I’ve lived in for nearly twenty years. We had timing guides that went out of the window at checkpoint two. They’ll make good mementos of a fun day out, I guess…

Thank you to everyone who donated. We raised over £600 for the HDA which means the world to me and I’m incredibly thankful. I tried gang, I really did.

Sometimes shit just doesn’t go to plan.
Next year, I’m slaying the Dragon…

(Forgot to mention, the course is incredible. I actually had a great time for most of it. The race organisers and checkpoint volunteers were all brilliant, especially the medic patched my foot up at the halfway point.) by @sammmsmmmith

Steve Cohen turned up to the fan club bar. Nice bloke. Bottled asking him if he fancied buying a football club because that’s just cheeky. by @sammmsmmmith

Start of season two. Might learn to hit, catch and throw the ball this year. Maybe. by @sammmsmmmith

Had a blast at @dolly_chicken_comedy last night, all the acts were great and audience was lovely, especially the gentleman who couldn’t wait to bark about *that* verse of god save the queen… #votesamsmith by @sammmsmmmith
