Suro Sushi, Montana/Wilshire📍

SURO makes Australian-style hand rolls fresh every day, which makes it great for lunch or for eating on the go. Grab a few and keep walking down Montana. Fresh, simple, and it doesn’t cost what a sit-down sushi dinner does.

It’s still pretty new to the neighborhood. If you used to know it as ROLLD, it’s the same spot with a new name.

Who’s tried it? Drop your go-to roll below 👇 by @samoinsider

Tavern on Main, Santa Monica📍

If you’re a Detroit sports fan where have you been? Did you know Detroit sports has a home in Los Angeles and it’s located right here on Main St in Santa Monica!

Tavern on Main hosts Detroit Lions football every game-day and the crowd never disappoints. Food was cookin’ and drinks were flowin’. They make sure to feed everyone sake shots after every Lions touchdown 🍶

Tavern on Main plays music from local Detroit artists during commercials, encourages “Jared Goff” chants and of course blasts Journey’s “Dont Stop Believin” song for their iconic “Just a City Boy, Born and Raised in South Detroit” lyrics.

This is a can’t miss experience, even if you’re a fan of another team! Come out next game day and be sure to say hi! 🏈👋🏼 by @samoinsider

The Cloverfield, Sunset Park 📍

The Cloverfield is a casual neighborhood restaurant and bar at 3300 Airport Ave. The food is mostly thin-crust pizza, housemade pastas, burgers, craft beer and cocktails, plus a natural wine list. The setting is a relaxed café environment with a spacious outdoor patio, so you can watch small planes and helicopters come and go from the Santa Monica airport just across the street🛩️🛝

For kids, it’s one of the better options on the Westside. This is definitely a spot that draws families who appreciate the fun atmosphere and view from its expansive outdoor patio. The real advantage is location: you can cross the street to Airport Park and let the kids run around the playground or the fenced-in field before or after you eat. Pizza, pasta and burgers suit most young eaters. Their kids’ pizza was enough to feed me and my 7-year-old just fine, but we decided to try a few items together 🍕🍝🍔👦🏽

It’s also a bar, so lunch and early dinner on the patio will be more family-friendly than late evenings. by @samoinsider

Whole Foods Market, Montana Ave📍

Let’s talk Expansion! The Montana Ave Whole Foods has always been the neighborhood’s corner market: a boutique-sized store at 15th Street with narrow aisles and a compact footprint. It does a lot with a little, and it’s never really had room to do more.

That’s changing. Whole Foods is expanding into the space next door at 1421 Montana, longtime home of Fireside Cellars, which served this block for 75 years. The extra square footage gives the store breathing room it has never had: space for wider aisles, a fuller prepared-foods selection, and more of what neighbors now drive to the bigger Westside stores for.

Looking forward to seeing what changes come from the added space! 🙌🏼 by @samoinsider

Ele Keats, Santa Monica📍

I’ve never been a crystal person, but recently noticed a newly installed crystal in the landscaping of a jewelry & crystal shop on Montana Ave in Santa Monica.

I love the creativity behind it and how well it fits the neighborhood. Such a cool addition to the immediate exterior just outside the shop… and now it’s got my attention. I’ve never once thought about buying crystals (apologies in advance Ele Keats), but this had me stopping in and purchasing Golden Obsidian, Tiger’s Eye and Pyrite. Looking forward to going back for more in the future.

Gott’s Roadside, Santa Monica📍

Gott’s Roadside started in 1999 as a little roadside stand in St. Helena, run by brothers Joel and Duncan Gott. Twenty-plus years and a James Beard America’s Classics award later, they’ve opened their first coastal spot right here in Santa Monica.

What’s on the tray 🍔🍷
→ Burgers, tacos, sandwiches and big salads made with serious ingredients
→ Hand-spun organic shakes + a dedicated soft-serve counter
→ A wine list curated by Joel Gott himself, pouring Napa names like Rombauer, Turley and Caymus
→ Frosé and low-ABV margarita and paloma spritzes for the patio crowd

And that patio is the move. Built for sitting a while, with long community tables inside for the whole team, the whole family, or the whole Sunday crew.

This corner sat empty for way too long. Now it’s lit up, walkable from the Pier and the Promenade, and giving downtown one more reason to stay out after the beach. That’s the stuff that makes a neighborhood feel like home.

Open daily 11am–9pm. 401 Wilshire Blvd.

Le Café Plage - Santa Monica📍

Montana Ave just got a little more French.

Le Café de la Plage, the Malibu favorite, takes over the former Savida spot in Santa Monica’s Wilshire-Montana neighborhood. The cafe is now open up on the corner of Euclid & Montana. Full breakfast menu, Baguette sandwiches, fresh pastries, good coffee.

Montana Ave continues adding to its growing list of new shops to open along the strip! 👏🏼 by @samoinsider

Pickleball at the Promenade!

This is our first post showing us playing pickleball. It’s something I picked up in the last couple months and now my son and I both like to play together!

It also shows just how much fun you can have living in Santa Monica with a kiddo. There is so much to do! We took a @waymo down to the other side of Samo for only $6 and of course, we had to end our session with a celebratory trip to the new @raisingcanes on the promenade!

Doesn’t get much better than this 🏓 by @samoinsider

Santa Monica📍

My 1 minute neighborhood guide consisting of the usual activities those looking for a new area to call home would want to understand before they commit to a 12-18 month apartment lease!

In my opinion these are usually the most important things people want to know about what it’s like living in different neighborhoods - aside from the apartment itself.

Coffee, Fitness, Food, Walkability, Community Activations and overall neighborhood energy.

Does this align with the major things you’re looking for? If you’re looking for a new apartment home in Los Angeles and not sure where to start, let’s chat.
