my band/forever project @sadhouseguest started 5 years ago! to showcase this transition from solo project to collaborative effort, we included this song, which features only me, on our first EP as a band. “Little Thousand” from the EP “Bugs in My Brain” released August 2021. go follow @sadhouseguest to see all our shenanigans! by @samstein32

been in chicago for 3 years now. i’ve spent most of that time in theater pits. here’s most of what i’ve worked on, in that realm, so far. my ulnar nerve is not so happy, but my brain is happy to not be in an office (no shade to the 9 to 5ers). grateful to be making music. excited to keep doing it. ☮️💚😁 by @samstein32

as is tradition… here is a little meditative piano video to remind you to come to @clarachicago on june 14th from 5-7PM for some lo-fi piano mixed with some classical and improv. sure to be a good time. (this song is called “maybe tomorrow we will know”, available online.) by @samstein32

hi friends I’M GOIN BACK TO @clarachicago NEXT MONTH. we got a free solo piano extravaganza on june 14th from 5-7PM. always a good time. hope to see you there. 🎹 here’s my official bio just for fun:

Samuel Stein is a composer, songwriter, and performer based in Chicago since summer 2023. Although typically seen as the front-man for local indie-rock band Sad House Guest, here he slows it down with his program of solo piano music. His style is a blend of contemporary, minimalist, and romantic music inspired by artists like George Winston, Ólafur Arnalds, and Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words. by @samstein32

y’all know how big stop signs actually are??? by @samstein32

here’s the middle of a new song called “it’s just living”. hear the full thing at @clarachicago on sunday, january 11th at 6PM (or find the full video on youtube).

the gig will feature plenty of soft, existential songs like this, but with lots of upbeat blues improv and classical thrown in as well. by @samstein32

hi chicago! i’m gonna be back at @clarachicago on january 11th, 2026! i’m gonna be playing some solo piano music, mostly my own songs, but also some mendelssohn and olafur arnalds and christmas arrangements and improv too. i’m gonna be playing from 6-8PM on a sunday, so you’ll still get to bed on time, but you’ll also get a wonderful cocktail or mocktail and some lullabies first. all are welcome. excited to see everybody. come celebrate the end of your holiday break with me!:):( by @samstein32
