Celebrating America My hope is to honor the creativity, craftsmanship, heritage, and everyday stories that have helped shape our country. Let's celebrate makers who preserve traditions, create with their hands, and finds beauty in the people and places that make America unique. Celebrating America 🇺🇸 Through my paintings, I hope to honor the creativity, craftsmanship, heritage, and everyday stories that have helped shape our country. From oyster shuckers and shrimpers to Sweetgrass basket makers, these are the people who preserve traditions, work with their hands, and carry generations of knowledge forward. Their stories are part of what makes the Lowcountry—and America—so unique. I’m honored to share this body of work at two upcoming events: 🎨 Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival 📍 Murrells Inlet, SC September 25–27 🎨 Featured Artist at Lowcountry Artists Gallery 📍 Downtown Charleston Opening October 1 Come see the paintings in person and celebrate the makers, traditions, and stories that connect us to our American heritage. Originals and Fine Art Giclée prints available. Iconic Charleston SC "The Story it Keeps" 20" x 22" Framed Watercolor Some Charleston homes seem to hold more than history—they hold stories. Built in 1741, this weathered home along what is now known as Rainbow Row has witnessed centuries of change. Its faded stucco, worn ironwork, and time-softened details seem to hint at the lives that once passed through its doors. I love imagining what these walls have seen—the families, celebrations, quiet moments, and generations who called this place home. There is so much history behind Charleston’s beautiful facades. Sometimes, you just have to slow down and look closely. Available online at sandraroper.com or Lowcountry Artists Gallery downtown Charleston Links in Bio Fine Art Giclee Prints also available #historiccharleston #charlestonart #charlestondaily#charlestonarchitecture#artcollector by @sandra__roper
Wildlife in the Lowcountry! "Pink Sentinels" Watercolor Framed size 28"x32" A glimpse into the wild!! Two white ibis pause among the tangled branches of the Lowcountry. I love capturing the delicate white and soft pink of the Ibis against the rich greens and textures of their natural surroundings. Our Freedom. Our Heritage. Our People. As we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, I’m dedicating this collection to the ordinary men and women whose hard work has helped shape our nation. From shrimpers working before sunrise, to oyster workers harvesting our coastal waters, to sweetgrass basket weavers preserving generations of tradition—these are the people who quietly built communities, sustained families, and kept America’s heritage alive. My paintings honor their resilience, their craftsmanship, and their enduring spirit. They remind us that freedom is not only celebrated in history books, but also lived every day through honest work, perseverance, and a deep love for the places we call home. Coastal Scenes I always love seeing where my paintings find their forever homes! 💙 “Pair of Sanderlings on Weathered Post” looks right at home above this beautiful buffet, where the soft coastal palette and serene Lowcountry subject matter perfectly complement the space. There is something incredibly rewarding about knowing a painting brings warmth and a sense of place to a collector’s home. For those who have admired this piece, Fine Art Giclée Prints are available, allowing you to bring a touch of the coast into your own home.
