When you have a Chief of Police who is elected by the people, listening to the people matters.

At SCPD, we believe community input makes us stronger. That’s why we have the Chief’s Advisory Committee (CAC), made up of 15 members of the Santa Clara community who come together to share their perspectives, ask questions, and provide input on policies and issues that affect our community and the relationship between residents and their police department.

Our Chief isn’t looking for a room full of “yes” people. He wants different perspectives, honest feedback, and ideas that challenge us to think differently. He believes good leadership means keeping an open mind, listening, and being willing to learn.

Please join us in welcoming our newest CAC members! We look forward to the conversations ahead and all the ways we can continue working together to serve Santa Clara. by @santaclara_pd

Cowabunga, Santa Clara!

While the city celebrates Halloween, our turtley awesome on duty dispatchers are holding down the fort, answering calls for service, and keeping help on the way! Remember, if you need us, we’re just a call away. Have a shell of a night and stay safe! by @santaclara_pd

The Mission, October edition, is here, check out what’s happening within SCPD and our community. Link to past/future digital versions in bio. by @santaclara_pd

One in custody. Charge: Being bad to the bone.

Happy Halloween! Don't let your little skeletons get into trouble today, be sure to go over Halloween safety tips with your kids before they head out to trick or treat. Have your kids carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or stickers on their costumes and bags. Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks and not to dart into the street. Motorists, slow down on the roadways and be extra vigilant for trick or treaters. by @santaclara_pd

When a community member struts into your lobby in a full inflatable rooster costume just to bring you treats and wish you a safe weekend, you know you have the best community around! Not only did she bring candy, she also brought a throwback picture of herself posing with our Motor Unit decades ago. We might be biased, but our community members are truly something to crow about. Thank you for decades of support, we are so grateful for your visit and to serve such a supportive community! by @santaclara_pd

SUNDAY’S FORECAST: 100% chance of time travel. No time machine required. Why we're still doing this you ask? Great question, that investigation remains ongoing.

But we do know this, as we fall back one hour, evenings get darker earlier. Keep an extra eye out for pedestrians and cyclists, slow down, and stay alert behind the wheel. #fallback #delorean by @santaclara_pd

One of the best parts of serving Santa Clara is being part of such a supportive community. From the friendly waves around town to the conversations that turn into familiar faces, it’s the little things that make this place feel like home to us. The kindness and support you show us throughout the year never go unnoticed and we’re grateful to serve a community that makes us feel just as much a part of it.

From our dispatchers answering 911 calls during someone’s worst day to our officers proactively patrolling our neighborhoods and standing watch over the dangers that threaten our community, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes. Through it all, we’re reminded how fortunate we are to serve right here in Santa Clara.

Today, on National First Responders Day, we want to turn the tables on you, our community, and say how much of an honor it is to be here for you, every single day, 24/7, 365 days a year. Thank you for being such a great community to serve, for the trust you place in us, and for all the support you show us throughout the year. It means more than you know! by @santaclara_pd

Welcome to the team, partner! 🫡 by @santaclara_pd

You are hereby put on notice. by @santaclara_pd

New badges, new beginnings, and 11 new members of the SCPD team. Today, we welcomed three lateral officers, four lateral public safety dispatchers, three dispatchers in training, and one Office Specialist III to SCPD during our badge ceremony. Among our newest hires are two with ties to Santa Clara, one who lives here and another who was born here.

Chief Morgan reminded our new team members of the responsibility that comes with the badge: “The work ahead will be demanding and we set a high standard because that’s what this community deserves, we chose you because we believe you have what it takes.”

Santa Clara, please join us in welcoming them to our community. And if you’re thinking about a career with SCPD, we’re still hiring. Visit iamscpd.org. by @santaclara_pd

Not every interaction is about enforcement, a lot of times it’s about connecting with our community. How bout that catch?! by @santaclara_pd

SpooktaClara, you understood the assignment! We loved seeing all the costumes, but seeing so many kids dressed as police officers? That made our day! Our booth lines were long all day and we loved every minute of getting to meet our youngest community members and build those trusting relationships early on. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth!

And to everyone who dressed as firefighters, we love ya, but we hope to see you in police costumes next year. 😂
