Cantareras I: A tribute to the popular Pottery that is disappering. Each base has been removed to increase the feeling that the vases are born from the earth and some cuts has been made to generate an inclination in the ceramics to provoke an slight sensation of inestability like the one artisans are experimenting now. 📷@lukasami 🏭@ceramicasangines #ceramic #spanishceramic #crafts by @santamarinandrea

From the Decadence collection. Based on an XXL ceramic perfume vessel originally commissioned by a private perfume collector, part of a series later featured in The New York Times. Archive image, unpublished until today.

Recapping my stay in lovely Aarhus (Denmark) with our international Food Studies group where I participated in various talks and activities that highlighted the cultural dimension of food linked to the humanities, along with the italian anthropologist and researcher @dauro187, and the french sociologist @claudefischler, with whom it was a pleasure to debate, between a bunch of very inspiring thinkers. Thanks so much to #SusanneHojllund to invited me to be part of this group.

Fond memories of my time in Copenhagen to continue researching the intersection between design and gastronomy, where I also met my dearest @luca_hugo, who introduced me to the dreamy work of the very young chef @serranoalejandro and his vibrant team.

Remembering how there is nothing more enriching than debating with people from different disciplines to continue expanding our creative and human perspective as I learned in @fabricaresearchcentre a few years ago... by @santamarinandrea

Field notebook, summer 2026.

Santamarina. I carry the sea in my surname, maybe that's why swimming and drawing feel like the same gesture to me: stripping something down to what's essential.

This year I've thought a lot about success. Swim. Draw. Stop. Be with my daughters, my family, my friends. Colour. The Mediterranean, for me, isn't just a summer landscape. It's my subject of research: heritage, craft, memory.

And public beaches ⛱️ remain among the few truly democratic spaces left — the same stretch of sand for whoever arrives to sunbathe, and for whoever arrives seeking safety.

"Success is being able to do what you love, whenever you want, with whoever you want."

Grateful to @nytimes for featuring Decadence, a collection conceived as a critical reflection on the luxury industry and its contradictions, at a moment when Milan Design Week seems to have evolved into a true Luxury Week.

Decadence invites a reconsideration of luxury, not as excess, spectacle or the production of desire, but as memory, time, craftsmanship and material culture. Through these pieces, I wanted to question what “luxury” means today and open a conversation around other forms of value, rooted in permanence rather than ostentation.

To see this project given space in The New York Times is a real honour, not only for the visibility, but because it amplifies a conversation I believe is urgent within contemporary design.

A pleasure to be back a @mugaritz to celebrate (not only my birthday) but something much more significant: the results of completing my thesis last year.

From the very beginning, Mugaritz has been an endless source of inspiration and knowledge. Your passion for creativity, gastronomy and innovation is contagious, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this community.
