Honored and grateful to share that Pushing Hope, written by Raymond Santana and illustrated by @iamtheleopard, has been selected for the Best Children’s Books of the Year 2026 list!

This is an incredibly prestigious recognition, and we are thrilled to be included among so many outstanding books published in 2025. Congratulations to all of my fellow authors, illustrators, and creators whose work was also recognized.

The Best Children’s Books of the Year list is curated by the Children’s Book Committee at Bank Street College of Education. The committee helps guide librarians, educators, parents, grandparents, and other adults to exceptional books for young readers. Selections are based on literary quality, excellence of presentation, emotional impact, authenticity, age appropriateness, positive treatment of ethnic and religious differences, and the absence of stereotypes.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this book to life and to the readers who continue to embrace its message of hope.

🚨 LAST-MINUTE HAIL MARY?

Trump says he plans to end $4 billion in U.S. aid to Israel — and the announcement comes on Election Day.

Is this a genuine policy shift or a last-minute attempt to sway the political conversation before the votes are counted?

The timing is raising eyebrows. But is he telling the truth?

WHAT DO YOU THINK? DO YOU BELIEVE HIM?

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s @kenpaxtontx office is suing election officials in Harris County, Texas, for running a voter outreach campaign encouraging Black, Latino, and Asian residents to vote. Yes, you read that correctly.

According to The New Republic, the lawsuit was filed on October 29, 2026, just days before the midterm elections, as Harris County, home to Houston and one of the most diverse counties in Texas, was experiencing record-breaking early voter turnout.

The controversy centers on Facebook and Instagram advertisements designed to inform residents about voting. The Attorney General’s Office argues that targeting outreach toward communities of color, without similarly targeting white European ethnic groups, constitutes racial discrimination.

So let me get this straight, a government campaign encouraging historically underrepresented communities to exercise their constitutional right to vote is the issue ?

Reportedly, Harris County had already surpassed 950,000 early votes by October 30, breaking its previous nonpresidential election record.

Paxton, who is also running for the U.S. Senate, recused himself from the lawsuit. Harris County officials defended their voter outreach efforts as lawful and nonpartisan. The county reached an interim agreement with the state after removing the disputed advertising targeting.

So the question is, why would encouraging Black and Brown communities to participate in democracy become the subject of a government lawsuit?

If voting wasn’t so powerful, why would there be such a fight over who gets encouraged to participate? by @santanaraymond
