I guess I’m a mom now 🖤 by @sarahnormaltattoo

Hey all!
I’m having a baby!

I’ll be stepping away from tattooing for a little while as I prepare to welcome a new addition to my family.

My last day for appointments will be January 31st, and I plan to return to the shop early spring.

My books will be closed during my maternity leave, but I’ll update you all when I’m ready to return. No appointments or consultations will be taken during this time and emails may go unanswered as I will be focusing on healing and bonding with my newborn. I will open my books closer to my return to work.

Thank you endlessly to everyone who has supported my work and my growing family. I am so grateful for the love, care, and respect my community has shown me as I navigate motherhood for the first time.

I am looking forward to getting back in the chair and fulfilling all of your tattoo needs. This isn’t goodbye—just a pause 🖤 by @sarahnormaltattoo

What a year 2025 has been, sheesh 🙄.
This has been one of the most transformative times I have ever experienced. I’ve grown in so many ways I wasn’t expecting, both mentally and physically. There has been a lot of sacrifice and loss paired with so many new and beautiful beginnings. I am so thankful for my friends, family, and community. I’ve never felt so much love and support and I endlessly am grateful for the life I get to have.

I know 2026 is going to be a doozy but I am going in to this year not expecting it to be easy. About a month from now I am going to become a mom for the first time and my life will never be the same.

I’m excited to hold this little guy that’s been wiggling in my tummy for the last eight months. I’m excited to meet this little stinker. I’m excited to see my partner, Justin, become a father. I’m excited for the gentleness and support for all of the people who keep showing up for me and my growing family. I’m excited for my mom to become a grandma for the first time. I’m excited for all the cool aunties and uncles this kid is going to have. I’m excited to be a badass mom who does cool tattoos and makes cool art.

But I’m also scared and nervous and so vulnerable going into all of this. Everything is happening so fast and I wish time could stop and speed up at the same time. This is the year of no sleep. The year of surprise body fluids and tears and little giggles. The year the cats will have to learn to accept their new younger sibling. The year of navigating being a parent and figuring out how to make everything work. The year of healing. The year of learning to ask for help. The year of trusting myself and finding confidence that I can do this despite what my brain is telling me at the time.

My only goal for this year is to survive and to fill it with as much love as I can and to not completely lose myself in the meantime.

So cheers to this new chapter of life, to growth, and to aggressively loving yourself and the people you surround yourself with. by @sarahnormaltattoo
