SASHA DEMINA (& MICKEY BOURNE) – OUTERLAND

SEXTA 3 OUTUBRO – 21H30 – JARDIM DO ESTÚDIO CENTRAL
SÁBADO 4 OUTUBRO – 21H00 – JARDIM DO ESTÚDIO CENTRAL

Teaser of trio performance “CAUTION: FRAGILE, LOVE” created during 1 week residency “Artistas no Palácio” in July 2025. Truly enjoyed choreographing this special one

This piece is for anyone who’s ever felt like they don’t fit in — for the outsiders, for the queer bodies, for those constantly navigating between cultures and expectations.

Performance explores fragility and contradictions of relationships, reflects on power dynamics and identity fragmentation. It speaks of friendship, intimacy, and the human longing for closeness in a world that asks us to hide who we are.

It is about us: coexisting, surviving, loving, and hurting each other.

Not a recap of 2025, rather diary notes. Things I’m proud of (ones that came to mind now)

Beginning of this year got invitation to show my solo ODI ET AMO in theatre in Porto. Created and led 2 contemporary dance courses.

Got into art residency in Viseu with result of solo performance BIG FEELING.

Published my first self-illustrated poetry book “Messy, vulnerable, unscripted”

Fiinally got my Portuguese residency card as a freelancer. Went through a crazy allergic reaction and ate extremely clean for months after - my body really taught me something there.

Went through my very first break-up, painful, destabilising, but transformative.

Had two another dance residencies. From the first one, a trio performance “Caution: Fragile, Love” was born — later shortlisted by Gerador. From the second, a duet “OUTERLAND”.

Performed with a Portuguese Orchestra, performed “Klein Cabaret” with Inestética.

Started going to therapy. Exchanged my driver license from Russian to Portuguese.

Kept teaching contemporary dance, ballet and stretching in my favourite places; choreographed several numbers for musical theatre.

Pilates became a steady, committed practice and I got into teacher training with BASI.

probably there is more, but I need to dig into my memory. Anyway this all would not have happened without kindest, generous people around me, who supported me in different ways, in different periods of this year. And to whom I’m forever grateful!

Heart warming memories of one chaotic but joyful Sunday some months ago that was spent with amazing @tamara.mauss who has an incredible talent to catch the right moments 🌀🫀

Love that those pics are literally made in my neighbourhood and one from my home :)

Little movement session on Monday morning, posting straight away without overthinking. Glad that sun is still shining bright in mid October and we might still get some beach days ahead:) Autumn is going great, full of beautiful events, new people entering my life and of course a lot of movement and dancing ✨🌀🫀

Here is my last developed film. I’m apparently not very good at doing social media, so at least will try to keep the tradition of posting pictures from film:)

It has been a beautiful summer and an amazing start to September. I can’t even put into words how grateful I am for all the people surrounding me: my lovable friends, supportive family, people I meet in different places and feel constant connection, amazing colleagues who become friends.

Universe is being very generous to me lately. I feel like a happy kiddo but with grounding feeling of stability, comfort and confidence.

Meet Sasha, Prescription Academy graduate 🤎

Originally from Russia and now based in Lisbon, Sasha brings a unique blend of Pilates and dance to every class. With a background in contemporary dance, ballet and physical theatre, movement has always been at the centre of her life.

After discovering Pilates and experiencing its impact on strength, confidence, and connection to the body, what began as a personal practice soon became a passion for teaching.

Her classes combine the precision of Pilates with the fluidity of dance to create a dynamic, music-led experience. Expect strong flows, great energy, and movement that leaves you feeling stronger, more connected, and confident in your body ✨

Sasha is a contemporary dance artist who immediately stole my heart the moment I saw her performing. I knew we would shoot in a dance studio.

Shooting with just one flashlight in a room full of mirrors was a challenge, but looking at the photos now, I know it was the right decision.

For me, this series is about meeting the version of yourself you’re becoming — the one you can’t fully see yet. Only possibilities, echoes, questions, which can be confusing. But there’s nothing but light in the end of that path.

will never get tired of looking through these pictures. My very first two rolls, shot on my dad’s camera that I found in our family garage while visiting home last summer:)

smiling every time looking at them as they capture beautiful moments spent with my warm-hearted people

This is the third roll from my film camera. Looking through these photos always makes me feel so soft and warm, like I’m living my best dream life

They were taken in Croatia, Germany, and Portugal, with my favorite people. There are goats and mountains, the ocean and smiles, laughters and birthdays, shared food and quiet moments

But most of all, these photos hold joy, connection, light, and the beauty of life: the beauty of being present

And I should more often remind myself - that’s what life is really about: these simple precious moments🤍
