Last Friday, we opened the doors to our latest gallery exhibition, Digital Ancestry: Entre Raíces, Memoria y Algoritmo! Opening night brought together the featured artists and the Savannah community for meaningful conversations and delicious Latin cuisine from the Pupuseria Jireh food truck. About the exhibition: Featuring artwork by SOY X SOY (@soy_x_soy) , an art collective of Latin American and Native American artists, this exhibition explores how identity, memory, culture, and belonging are formed at the intersection of inherited traditions and digital worlds. The title unites three interconnected ideas: Entre Raíces (roots), Memoria (memory), and Algoritmo (algorithm). This exhibition is on display in our gallery now through November 28. On Thursday, October 8, we hosted our first-ever Night of Clay! 🏺 The evening brought together talented students from our ceramics classes to showcase and sell their artwork to the Savannah community. Guests also enjoyed an artist talk and wheel demonstration with local artist John Jensen, along with a Raku firing demonstration led by CAC ceramics instructor Cameron Frost. This Thursday, 10/22, and Friday, 10/23 at 7:30pm, the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center's Performance Lab class will present The Thin Place by Lucas Hnath! About The Thin Place: The Thin Place is the story of two women, Hilda and Linda. Linda communicates, professionally, with the dead, who are still here, just in a different part of here, in the “thin place.” She can make those who believe hear them, offering them peace and closure and meaning. Hilda, a keen listener and observer who’s grappling with loss, takes a great interest in Linda’s abilities. She befriends the veteran medium, seeking answers that lie across the fragile boundary between our world and the other one. This show contains mature subject matter and language, recommended for ages 15+. Both nights are free and open to the public and no tickets are needed. Each night will feature a different cast. Directed by instructor Joanna Walchuk. CART Captioning and ASL Interpretation will be provided during the 10/22 performance. 📍Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center, 201 Montgomery St. THE THIN PLACE is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals www.concordtheatricals.com. #TheThinPlace #SavannahTheater #OtisSJohnsonCulturalArtsCenter #PerformingArts #WhattodoinSavannah by @savannahculture
