We’ve lost count of the amount of clients that turn down blod, design-heavy tiles because they think it’s “too much”.

Whilst we know that some people prefer subtler designs (which we also think look awesome), we find that a lot of customers are actually nervous to use a heavy design because the bathroom could end up being too overwhelming. And we don’t blame them!

If done incorrectly, bold tiles end up being an eye sore. ❌ 🤦‍♂️

Our tips are simple, and if you stick to them, you can’t go wrong 👇

1) Stick to one tile for both wall and floor (should be porcelain, and ideally in a matt finish if used on the floor)

2) If you’re going to add a feature, make sure it compliments the print in the tile

3) Use the same accent colour as the feature for your brassware. If you’re not using a feature, match the accent colour to the design colour of the tile.

The second you start introducing additional colours, the design can very quickly go from classy to chaotic.

Give this post a save if you found it useful, so you can revisit for any future projects.

Don’t overspend just to under deliver on the smallest space in your home.

This one was done on a tight budget after the client overspent elsewhere - but it still came out looking premium, using some smart surface choices and pairing it with contrasting tap ware.

The LED mirror and lighting choices made this cloakroom WC really stand out too.

Simple choices. Done properly.

It makes all the difference.

Moody bathrooms can go wrong quickly.

Too dark, and the space feels tight. Too much contrast, and it looks messy.

This one stays balanced ⚖️

Onyx Prime Gris in the shower creates the feature, while white marble matte tiles keep the space open and clean. Matte black finishings tie it all together without overcomplicating it 🖤

If you’re doing this style, keep the palette tight and let one element do the work.

So fresh and so clean 🤩 🧼

We’d love to take credit for the design, but this was all from a creative client who knew exactly what she wanted.

Mumtaz went with a slate effect tiles, which contrast beautifully with the brushed brass fixtures and fittings.

The fluted screens are just 👌 too

QUICK MEDIA WALL POP UP 🔥

Every man and his dog wants a a media wall in their gaff nowadays, even us at Sayda Trade.

So we used our stunning acoustic panels and nailed this to our wooden prepared surface that we made using 2x1s and recycled MDF.

There’s a range of 6 colours, but we chose the anthracite panels because they look absolutely gangsta 🥷.

Paired with 4x1 oak varnish border, to contain the lights from the LED we placed behind the Calacatta Borghini 60x120 tile.

How about the desk?! This was a cheap old study desk turned luxury, covered in the oak acoustic panels, and topped with Atlantis Gold 60x120 tile. 🖤💛

There’s a lot of wonderful stuff you can do with these panels, but we just kept it nice and simple to give our clients an idea of how they look in action.

You can find all these products in store now. Was a lovely little DIY task for us, and can be for you too.

Sayda Trade is in the Tile Game, and has been for over a decade! Formerly known as Manchester Tiles and Plumbing, Sayda Trade started as a tile and plumbing store.

Based in the heart of Moss Side, Manchester, we were one of few stores providing an extensive selection of plumbing and tiles at trade prices to all customers.

Large trade outfits at the time tended to alienate a lot of “tradies” or DIY fanatics, who needed to open account to use their services.

We at Sayda Trade, pride ourselves on always helping those who need it the most. So whether you were just starting out as a tradie, or you were someone who wanted to take on a DIY project, you could get your supplies from Sayda Trade. All without paying a hefty price tag or filling out an application.

We know that improving your home can be stressful, so we always give our warmest welcome and specialist support for anyone who walks through our doors.

Over a decade later, Sayda Trade continues to be a cornerstone of the M14 postcode. Though we supply contractors with bigger budgets, regionally, we still pride ourselves on being the helpful people who make time and space for those who need it.

Our homes, our bedrock, is one of the most important parts of our lives. And we have been helping the community build these bedrocks, and build them better, since 2008.
