Some books you read. Some books read you. 🤍

I’m so honored that @saygewithin invited me to be part of celebrating this moment with her. She wrote the kind of book that makes you pause, reread a line, and sit with it for a minute. If you’ve ever been so busy being strong that you forgot who you are underneath it all, this one is for you.

Chapter One is FREE right now at the link in her bio. Start there and thank me later. 📖

There’s something different about seeing the words that lived in your head, your heart, and your life finally sitting in a book.

Undress Me: Reclaiming the Woman Beneath Survival.

This book is about the layers we pick up along the way. The roles we learn to play, the ways we learn to survive, the parts of ourselves we quiet down, and the moments when we finally start asking, what about me?

I didn’t write this book from a place of having it all figured out. I wrote it from the middle of my own becoming, from the things I had to face, unlearn, release, and reclaim.

And now, after years of carrying this story, I’m letting you in.

September 29.

But you don’t have to wait until then to enter the conversation.

We don’t always recognize self-abandonment when we’re doing it.

Sometimes it looks like being the dependable one. The understanding one. The one who can handle it. The one who keeps the peace. The one everyone knows they can count on.

But somewhere in the middle of showing up for everyone else, you can start disappearing from your own life.

You say yes before asking yourself if you actually want to. You explain your boundaries instead of trusting that they’re enough. You look to everyone else for answers before checking in with yourself. You ignore what your body is telling you because somebody else needs you.

And eventually, you have to ask yourself:

When did I stop considering me?

I know this one personally.

Recognizing the ways I had been abandoning myself became a big part of my own healing and reclaiming. It forced me to get honest about what I was tolerating, what I was ignoring, and how often I was choosing everyone else at my own expense.

That’s part of the story I share in Undress Me: Reclaiming the Woman Beneath Survival.

Unpopular opinion…

I don’t want a “better” version of myself anymore.

I’ve spent enough years chasing that.

These days…

I’m more interested in reconnecting with the version of me that existed before I started questioning my own wisdom.

Before I looked outside of myself for every answer.

Before I forgot I could trust myself.

That’s the version I’m reclaiming.

Maybe you are too 🤎

Sometimes, we adapt to meet expectations for so long that we don’t realize how much those expectations have shaped our identity.

But you’re allowed to question what you’ve been taught, examine the roles you’ve carried, and decide what still aligns with who you are and what you value.

That’s part of reclaiming your inner authority.

In Undress Me: Reclaiming the Woman Beneath Survival, I explore these layers of identity, survival, and the expectations that shape us.

Being the strong one can become so much a part of your identity that you stop questioning what it’s costing you.

You keep showing up for everybody else, but when do you make room for yourself?

In Undress Me: Reclaiming the Woman Beneath Survival, I explore the roles we learn to play, the expectations we carry, and what it means to begin reclaiming our inner authority.

If this resonates with you, comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link to get your copy. 🤎✨

I used to think being strong meant being able to handle whatever life put in front of me. I could push through, figure it out, keep the peace, and make sure everybody else was good.

But being capable of doing something doesn’t mean it isn’t costing you something.

I’ve had to get honest about the ways I was showing up for everybody else while overlooking myself. I’ve learned that strength can also mean asking for help, speaking up when something doesn’t sit right with me, and giving myself permission to stop carrying what was never mine to hold.

I’m learning that reclaiming my inner authority means getting honest about what strength really looks like for me.

Which one of these hit home for you? Tell me in the comments. 🤎

Maybe you don’t need more healing. Maybe you need to let yourself live a little.

As adults, we can get so caught up in being responsible, being strong, being productive and doing what needs to be done that we forget there is still a part of us that wants to play, explore, laugh, be curious and experience joy without needing a reason.

I’ve been learning that nurturing my inner child isn’t about going back and changing what happened. It’s about being intentional about what I give myself now.

More freedom. More joy. More permission to be myself without always needing to be useful.

Because reclaiming yourself isn’t just about releasing the things that no longer serve you.

It’s also about making room for the parts of you that have been waiting to live.

I wrote about this in Chapter 5 of Undress Me: Reclaiming the Woman Beneath Survival.

The book is officially out now.
