Bienvenidos a sazón + scent, LLC My name is Ilia. I was born and raised in Spanish Harlem and now live in the Bronx — and everything I create is rooted in that. I come from loud block parties, café in the morning, sofrito in the blender, music through open windows, and summers that smelled like fire hydrants and pavement. The kind of memories that don’t leave you. That’s what sazón + scent is. Every candle is a feeling I remember, a bodega stop, a holiday drink, or a treat after school. The little things that stayed with me. These aren’t just candles. They’re memory. They’re culture. They’re home. Light one… and you’ll understand. Hand poured using 100% natural soy wax. #thebarrioscandle #sazonandscent #soycandles #thebronx #spanishharlem by @sazonandscent
My heart is so full. ❤️ A little while back, I received an email from @canvasrebel letting me know that my friends Alba and Alberto had recommended me for an interview as a new entrepreneur. I was honored, surprised, and so grateful. Alba and Al, the amazing owners of @avasphotoboothnj have inspired me by showing what’s possible when you take a leap of faith and believe in yourself. Gracias for thinking of me and for helping share my story. Because of your recommendation, I now get to share the heart behind sazón + scent—why these barrio-inspired candles mean so much to me and how I hope they bring nostalgia, cultura, and comfort into your homes. A special thank you to my husband for always believing in me, and to my daughters, Sofia and Giana, who inspire me every day to dream bigger ✨ This little business was built on family, memories, and love. To everyone who has supported sazón + scent, thank you from the bottom of my heart.❤️ Article link in my bio 🙏🏽 #thebarrioscandle #sazonandscent #soycandles #thebronx #spanishharlem by @sazonandscent
Mi barrio 🇵🇷❤️ I wanted this image to reflect the heart of my brand because the bodegas were a staple of my childhood. The tenements were home, and the fire escapes offered a sense of freedom beyond those four walls. Every corner held a story, every block carried a memory. sazón + scent is rooted in that nostalgia—capturing the sights, scents, and spirit of the barrio that shaped me. This past Saturday was all about community, connection, and showing up for one another. ❤️ We spent the day at Morningside Park for a pop-up hosted by @morningsideartexchange (MAE), connecting with local residents and Columbia University students while sharing the story behind sazón + scent and our candles inspired by the sights, sounds, and scents of NYC’s barrios. The best part? Spending the day with my brother, my daughters, family, and friends. Being surrounded by the people you love while doing something you love makes it that much more special. ❤️ Shout out to my brother @wicked1974 for being my copilot this thine! You rock! A huge thank you to MAE for bringing people together and creating space for community to connect. We’re grateful to be part of it! #thebarrioscandle #sazonandscent #soycandles #thebronx #spanishharlem by @sazonandscent

We are so proud to partner with @sazonandscent to bring to life the historic scent of Poe Cottage when Edgar Allan Poe lived there with the "Poe's Fordham Tuberose" candle, available in 10oz and 4oz sizes. The candle is available for purchase at the Cottage, online at poecottage.org and through @sazonandscent. “I well remember the pretty little house, a tiny white cottage, set up above the road, surrounded by tall shrubs, trees, and emerald grass. It was a modest abode, but tasteful, and so scrupulously clean and well ordered that at once on entering it one felt that it was no ordinary home. . . . Beside the narrow staircase leading to the upper rooms stood a large tube-rose plant, which sent its fragrance all over the house.” Elma Mary Gove Letchworth, “A Young Girl’s Recollections of Edgar Allan Poe” If you have never smelled Tuberose, it is simultaneously floral, spicy, and dreamy, so do yourself a favor and pick up a few now. Also, check out the full product lineup of @sazonandscent, including such amazing, familiar Bronx scents as Café con Leche and Coquito! #candles #poecottage #tuberose #sazonandscent by @sazonandscent
We’re so excited to announce that sazón + scent has partnered with @bookculturebroadway ! ❤️ As a Puerto Rican-owned, Bronx-based brand, we’re proud to see our candles on the shelves of an independent bookstore that celebrates books, diverse voices, and community. Just like a good book, a scent can take you somewhere, bring back a memory, or remind you of home. That’s what our candles are all about: preserving nostalgia through fragrance and bringing a little piece of our barrios into your home. A huge thank you to the @bookculturebroadway team for welcoming us! We’re grateful for this opportunity and excited for what’s to come. Next time you shop for your next read, look for sazón + scent and take a little piece of the barrio home with you. ❤️ #thebarrioscandle #sazonandscent #soycandles #thebronx #spanishharlem by @sazonandscent
🇵🇷🗽 Rain couldn’t stop this Nuyorican familia! ❤️ WOW! Our first Nuyorican Pop-Up was EVERYTHING and more! Despite the rain, you all SHOWED UP, and what started as a pop-up turned into one big family party! The hugs, laughter, conversations, and LOVE! Whether we had just met or known each other forever, everyone felt like familia. The vibes were UNREAL! ❤️ To everyone who came out, shopped, shared, and showed love, GRACIAS! You made this day unforgettable! To my girls @sazonandscent, @washohouse, and @familiasoto.nyc, MY TRIBE! ❤️ Four Nuyorican women, one vision, and a whole lot of love for our cultura. We’re just getting started! Huge thanks to David at @piraguaartspace for welcoming us and sending us to @casaadelarestaurant afterward. It felt like going to Abuela’s house after a family party! Amazing food and the good vibes just kept flowing! Special love to @santiaramos, @divi.mepr, @digimom.nyc, @victordadlife, and @craftierican_ for showing up and supporting us! And @thee_chelly_, you were a whole VIBE! Thank you for capturing those beautiful moments. We LOVE you! ❤️ And to our families and friends, thank you for always having our backs! Days like this remind me that Small Wonderz is about so much more than handmade jewelry. It’s about cultura, connection, and community. This wasn’t just a pop-up. It was CULTURA. COMMUNITY. FAMILIA. 🇵🇷❤️ And this is only the beginning! 🗽 #NuyoricanPopUp #NuyoricanPride #SupportLatinaOwned #HandmadeJewelry #SmallWonderzByLiza by @sazonandscent
