ā€œWe Are FUGAZI From Washington, DCā€ Film
Screening at Liberty Hall at 7pm 10/15/2026

We here @laandks are super excited to announce a different kind of All Ages show. In collaboration with @lawrenceartscenter @lovegardensounds and @libertyhallinc we in the Lawrence area will have an opportunity to screen this film featuring rare live footage of FUGAZI. While it is unlikely that we will see the band performing live again, this is a special opportunity to experience their live performances together in our community.

Tickets for the screening are $10. In the spirit of LAAND and FUGAZI, there will be $5 tickets available at the door for those 18 years and under. This film is not available to stream so this is your chance!!

A portion of the ticket price will go to support one of our local gems @ecmku

Created to commemorate the 20 years that have passed since DC-based post-hardcore band Fugazi’s last live appearance (November 4, 2002, at The Forum in London), We Are Fugazi from Washington, D.C. is a 96-minute movie comprising crowd sourced, fan recorded live shows and rare archive footage of Fugazi curated by Joe Gross, Joseph Pattisall and Jeff Krulik.
Explicitly billed as a nondocumentary (tHISiSNOTaFUGAZIdOCUMENTARY,) the film pays tribute to Fugazi’s prowess as a live act — for old fans to remember and for a new generation to discover what they missed. This unique archival assemblage celebrates the fans and their cameras, as much as the band itself — a collision/ collusion of the ephemeral moment on stage, and the moments captured on camera. taken in Liberty Hall by @laandks

šŸ”¹In-Store Tour Recap: Last DayšŸ”¹

We ended our mini-tour at the multi-sensory explosion that is @bricabracrecords. A wonderland of colors and patterns, toys and collectibles, and an expertly curated selection of vinyl. We met Shrimp Chip The Dog, whose one lot in life appeared to be extracting the maximum amount of belly rubs from all willing passersby. So sweet reuniting with our buds/Bric-a-Brac’s owners, Nick and Jen; Nick graciously lent us the @clickbaitchicago drum kit, and Jen, fresh from a convention, greeted us by excitedly showing off a keepsake photo of her & Mr. T (whom she’d just met, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream) in a cute šŸ«¶šŸ½ pose.

Nick and Jen are yet another example of the deep and meaningful impact of radically investing in your community. Everything they do — running Bric-a-Brac & @thebrewed, DJing around town, hosting bands at their INSANELY AWESOME house, selling merch for touring artists, playing & touring in Clickbait — it’s all a reflection of their deep & abiding love for art & the people who make it, in Chicago and beyond. We can’t wait to play with them (and our friends @unifloraband, who were also at the shop!) in October!!!

Thanks to everyone who came to Bric-a-Brac on Sunday (shoutout @nina_corcoran_, who biked over after immediately wrapping the latest @see_saw.fun podcast ep with Evan, a true soldier). And HUGE thanks to @sbrackbill for tagging along in the van and filming all these shows!!!!! šŸ’–

Just under 3 weeks until US tour!!!!!!!

šŸ”¹In-Store Tour Recap: Day 4šŸ”¹

We pulled into the @feelitrecordshop parking lot *juuuuuust* in time to catch @suitortheband’s set. It’s crazy to think the last time we saw them was over two years ago, when they were at our house recording SYOWTW. Feels like they’ve been a constant, palpable presence since that record dropped — a reminder that music & friendship transcend physical & temporal distance.

Great to see the folks behind the Feel It counter, especially Ben The Sound Guy (ā€œBut I’m not a real sound guy!ā€ he will inevitably exclaim if/when he sees this 😈). And of course we were overjoyed to see our dear friend again, Mr. Feel It himself, THEE Sam Richardson!!!!! We love you always, Sam. Thank you for hosting the show!

Shoutout @gulowstreet for the delicious salmon salad sandwich & burgers, and for having Grippo’s. Grippo’s 4ever.

We’re doing an AMA tomorrow over on @indie_heads. Ask us about anything. Ask us about Grippo’s.

šŸ”¹In-Store Tour Recap: Day 3šŸ”¹

Memphis always feels like a homecoming. Maybe it’s because in order to get there we have to cut through Arkansas, which always triggers an acute wave of sentimentality as we recall our collegiate stomping grounds just a handful of hours west of Memphis. Or maybe it’s because our third-ever show post-lockdown was at Gonerfest 18, where online friendships solidified into enduring IRL connections in the warm (very warm, cuz it was summer in the south) embrace of a city made of music.

That warmth was as present as ever at the @gonerrecords shop. Zac and Eric graciously treated us to bbq from @centralbbq (still dreaming of the dry rub wings), and we saw so many familiar faces in the crowd and also in the bins (snagged a copy of Relentless Metamorphosis by our loves @opticsink). Big hugs also to @cakeslime and @andrew.mccalla. Damn, what a great crew! Sad we won’t be in town for this year’s fest, but the lineup is as stacked as ever (shoutout @outerworldband)!

We’re wrapping up this mini-tour TODAY at another SP homebase: @bricabracrecords. Consider it an amuse-bouche before the main meal on 10/30 with @clickbaitchicago and @unifloraband at @emptybottle!

šŸ”¹In-Store Tour Recap: Day 2šŸ”¹

We stopped by @euclidrecords in St. Louis, MO, a city which continues to fascinate us with its thriving scene of weird and brilliant music. Wish we could have made it to that punk fest under the arch earlier this summer, hope it happens again next year. Loved meeting Rob of Euclid, and really loved meeting and playing with @holofoilhq, who had taken it upon themselves to paper over the whole town with these gorgeous flyers designed by @touchfreak.

For lunch, we stopped in Columbia at a spot called Birdies (shout-out to the ā€œMississippi Half Stepā€ pot roast sandwich yum) & fondly reminisced about the time we played at @truefalsefilmfest via @truefalsemusic.

Just a couple more shows coming up:

*8/15 (that’s tonight!) @feelitrecordshop with @suitortheband
*8/16 @bricabracrecords

Cutting corners and putting it plainly:Ā MasterclassĀ (and the Gotobeds as a whole) sounds like what people meant when they talked about ā€œindie rockā€ in the 20th century. You like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.,Ā Pavementā€˜s earlier, noisier stuff—the college radio all-stars? You’d probably like the Gotobeds. (Yeah, the name comes from Wire’s drummer’s assumed name, and if you understand howĀ Chairs MissingĀ basically spawned every prominent indie rock subgenre of the ā€˜80s and ā€˜90s, you already have a good idea of what the Gotobeds are working at here.) Riffs and hooks drenched in noise, melodies that fit perfectly but sound a little busted somehow, an exuberance and love of sound that’s free-spirited but rooted in adult experience, intentionally crafted chaos: the Gotobeds really are back out here once again showing us how it’s done. And about as concisely as possible—they blast through 10 songs in 31 minutes, which is tied with ā€œtwo songs in 45 minutesā€ as the ideal length for an album.
As always, they do it with humor and a fair amount of bite. These aren’t 21st century kids channeling their parents’ record collection: the Gotobeds are grizzled pros who remember first-hand that this whole ā€œindie rockā€ thing grew out of punk, shedding its stifling genre orthodoxy but holding on to a decent chunk of its animating ethos. It’s not the tepid singer-songwriter broth or untalented careerism that the tag ā€œindieā€ came to represent in the ā€˜00s—it’s in the older tradition of the form, the truer tradition, the one worth celebrating.

Fugazi | Ian Mackaye | Piitburgh, PA | May 2, 1998

Honored to a my photo included in the shortlist for @abbeyroadstudios Music Photography Awards 2026!

I was very excited to see the announcement of a 50 Years of Punk category for this year’s competition! A chance to go digging in the archives.

This photo of Ian Mackaye of @dischordrecords Fugazi has always been a favorite of mine. Ian is an icon of Punk and an inspiration of mine since i discovered Dischord Records in junior high school.

Thanks @abbeyroadmpa for including this photo. I can’t wait to see the rest of the historic Punk images that they’ve selected. Congrats to the other shortlisters as well!

Swipe for a few more photos from that 1998 Fugazi show. by @laandks
