A few months ago, I caught myself putting away some new dish towels I had bought earlier that day.

« I’ll use them when I have guests over » I thought before making a mental note that I should host more.

Then I looked at them, folded neatly on top of linen napkins I had saved for the same reason, and asked myself: why should my home look its best for others and not for me? Why should it matter wether I am preparing an elaborate dinner or making instant mac and cheese?

I don’t want to have to look forward to the grand occasions to experience beauty, elevated comfort or sensory pleasure.

I want a home that loves me everyday, in the seconds in between, however ordinary or uneventful they may be.

Not just when someone is looking. by @by.zephxr
