POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve wanted to make a post about Longevity skincare for such a long time. But it’s a complex topic, and I’ve struggled to find the right format. A video would have become far too long, so I decided on a carousel!

I hope these slides help explain what longevity means in skincare, what the research focuses on, and why the distinction from traditional anti-ageing isn’t always so clear.

I’ve also included some longevity skincare examples to make the science easier to understand:

@lancomeofficial Absolue Longevity M.D.
@clarinsofficial Double Serum
@vichylaboratoires Neovadiol
@larocheposay Hyalu B5 Suractivated Serum
@naturabisse Diamond Life Infusion
@prescription_skincare Zombie Cell Serum
@nivea Cellular Epigenetics Serum

Questions, feedback, or thoughts about this post? I’d love to hear them! Was the explanation clear? Did the product examples help? And is there anything you’d like me to explain in more detail? It’s a complex subject, so please let me know if anything is unclear 🩷🩷

This is how you reduce hair breakage when brushing!

Conditioner and leave-in products do more than make your hair feel soft. They can also help protect it from breakage during combing.

In this video, I share a study that measured how much hair broke during combing and blow-drying with different product routines. The difference after adding a leave-in spray is well worth a look!

Do you use a leave-in product before brushing or combing your hair?

AD | Really excited that @larocheposay asked me to explain the science behind their new Effaclar Supramolecular Oil & Pores Correct

Supramolecular chemistry was part of my chemistry studies, so I loved getting the chance to explain the science behind it!

What I find especially fascinating about this new product is how it shows just how much chemistry can go into a cosmetic formulation and how much you simply cannot tell from looking at an ingredient list alone.

Did seeing the exact same ingredient list for both products make it harder to decide which one would work better? And have you already tried the new product?

And of course, let me know if you have any other questions about supramolecular chemistry or this new product!

Fear sells. And unfortunately, that is exactly what a lot of content about cosmetics relies on.

“The shocking truth about your skincare.”
“Toxic ingredients hiding in your bathroom.”
“Ingredients you should NEVER put on your skin.”

It sounds alarming, it gets attention, and it makes for a great hook. But what is much less exciting to put in a video is the reality: cosmetic products are actually highly regulated and subject to extensive safety requirements.

Around the world, cosmetic ingredients are regulated, with restrictions or bans in place where necessary. And it doesn’t stop at the ingredient level. Before a cosmetic product can be placed on the market, its safety must be assessed. This takes into account not only which ingredients are present, but also their concentrations, how the product is used, where it is applied and the expected level of exposure.

Because whether something is safe cannot be determined simply by spotting a scary-sounding chemical name on an ingredient list. Safety is about exposure and dose, not fear.

So perhaps the real shocking truth is much less shocking: there is a lot of science and safety assessment behind the cosmetic products sitting in your bathroom.

Do you often see fear mongering social media posts?

Do UV filters really stop working after 2 hours? 🤔

This is one of the biggest sunscreen myths I come across. In this video, I'll explain what actually happens to your sunscreen and why you really need to reapply.

Luckily, sunscreen technology is constantly evolving. Some brands have developed technologies that help the sunscreen film stay more evenly in place for a longer period of time.

Examples include:
☀️ Auto-Repair Technology @shiseido Expert Sun Protector
☀️ Netlock Technology @cerave Invisible UV Fluid SPF50+ and @larocheposay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50+

* The "every 2 hours" recommendation is a general guideline. The ideal reapplication frequency depends on factors such as UV intensity, sweating, swimming, towel drying, and how much sunscreen has worn off.

What sunscreen do you use? ☀️
