You don’t always realise you’re living an important chapter while you’re in it.

Nearly 20 years ago, Valdas Dambrauskas and Eddie Cardoso were my coaches at Kingsbury London Tigers.

Long before the Champions League and Old Trafford, I remember the work behind the scenes.

Early mornings. University. Coming back to load the equipment into the minibus. Collecting players. Chasing subs. Booking pitches. Putting the nets up in the cold and rain. Games being cancelled. Players who sometimes couldn’t afford to pay. And doing so much of it voluntarily, simply because they believed in what they were building.

Valdas always had a plan. He taught me to know exactly what I wanted, understand where I was going and work towards it step by step. No excuses. That mentality stayed with me.

Eddie brought a different energy. The way he designed training sessions, how one drill flowed seamlessly into the next and how he developed players had a huge influence on me as a young defender.

At the time, they were simply my coaches. Looking back now, I realise how much of their thinking influenced the way I approach football, coaching and eventually building Scout Me Online.

Fast-forward nearly two decades and I’m standing at Old Trafford, reunited with them after watching Valdas lead Sabah FC against Manchester United in the Champions League.

People see moments like this when they arrive.

They don’t always see the years of work when nobody was watching.

Proud to have been a small part of that earlier chapter and even prouder to see where the journey has taken them.

Football really does bring things full circle. ⚽️🔄
