Hats off to the lovely ladies of @l7theband who rocked the house at their sold out gig in #minneapolis @finelinempls - You claim that this is your last hurrah but I’m not buying it… you musicians like to lie. Fingers crossed. 🤞
I still remember the last time I saw you, @jenniferfinch jumped into the crowd and landed on my head. Ahhh, those were the days… It’s too bad that she is gone but.. alas, the music lives on!!! And I’m glad I got to experience it. Thank you square heads for keeping it real. #lasthurrah #coldnovemberrain by @seamusliamobrien

Happy Halloween! Thanks to @extremenoisempls for hosting an early evening of goregrind music in their deepest, darkest, basement of secrets!!!! The place was packed tighter than a can of sardines!
.
I got in a bit late but I did get to see local hardcore legends @body612.fm play their peaceful melodic harmony’s ✌️👹 (plus a @officialmisfits cover!?!)
and @bodies_lay_broken perform a sonic post-mortem exenteration 😂😂 man, they had that fog machine cranked to the Nth degree to create a scene right out of Stephen King’s The Mist (I was about six feet from the singer but you sure can’t tell in my video. 😂😂👻) A great eery effect! 🫡
Now it’s off to the races for the tricks and treaters! #minneapolisunderground #extremenoisemn #basementliving by @seamusliamobrien

Hats off to the great @sexpistols who visited @fillmorempls last night. I’ve been wanting to see that band since 1987 when I first saw them on a @rollingstone TV special called ‘20 years of Rock and Roll”. (I videotaped the documentary for my brother but he never watched it.🤷🏼‍♂️) Their sound, the look, the mythos - I loooooove the Sex Pistols. I remember a woman in Chicago asking me if I was a Beatles guy or a Rolling Stones guy… I told her I like the Pistols. I read all the books, saw all the movies, read all the articles, I couldn’t get enough! gob, gob, gob, gob, gob.
.
And yes, I’ve heard the naysayers about this tour… I get it. But I reason I’ll never ever ever ever ever ever have this opportunity again.
So thank you @jonesysjukebox @glenmatlock1 @paulcook for the great music. And Frankie Baby @frankcarter23 thanks for taking the lead. It would have been cool to see John but… eh, oh well. 🤷🏼‍♂️ by @seamusliamobrien

New #signpainting on a scrap piece of wood - ‘Eeny Meeny Miny Mo’ - 16.5x27.75”, acrylic paint, 2026.

Sometimes I’ll find a sentence or paragraph in a book and the quote will just stick w me, sometimes for years and years. Maybe it haunts me. 🤷🏼‍♂️👻 In any case, thats what happened w this sentence from the memoir ‘Finding Me’ by the actor @violadavis (Good book btw)
.
Here is the full quote: “For every one actor who makes it to fame there are fifty thousand more who did exactly the same things, yet didn’t make it. Most of the actors I went with to Juilliard Rhode Island College, Circle in the Square Theatre, the Arts Recognition Talent Search competition are not in the business anymore. I think I can name six, and many, you wouldn’t even know. It doesn’t speak to their talent, it speaks to the nature of the business. Trust me when I say most were beautiful and talented, and some has incredible agents. It’s an eenie, meenie, miny, mo game of luck, relationships, chance, how long you’ve been out there, and sometimes talent.”
.
The actor Joe Pesci has stated how he had essentially given up on acting and was working at an Italian restaurant when Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese tracked him down for Raging Bull. Pesci acknowledged that he was incredibly lucky, but more importantly he was ready. Meaning, when luck happened his preparation met the opportunity.
.
I find it endlessly fascinating how some people in the arts are able to make a career out of their passion. Like, REALLY MAKE IT! And others don’t. Why this person and not that person? Why is this artwork being celebrated? Will anyone remember it in ten years? I guess the uncertainty of the whole thing makes life interesting.
.
Anyway… I decided to paint the quote, and that’s what I did! Thanks again Viola! #twincities #eeniemeeniemineymo #memoir #sign by @seamusliamobrien

I recently purchased a large framed print by the artist Albert Bierstadt at an estate sale in Minneapolis, MN. 32x36” framed.
The reproduction print is a copy of an original painting titled ‘In the Mountains’ (1867) that is located at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT. Considered by many a “monumental landscape that celebrates American wilderness as sublime and infinite - it is an immersive experience designed to evoke awe and reverence for the untamed beauty of the American West.”
.
Original price - $20
(I have to take a moment to acknowledge the art framer for this particular piece too because they used a record 5 pieces of foam core and 4 pieces of matte board to frame the print! Impressive!! The frame is undoubtedly just as significant (if not more) as the artwork itself.)
.
I painted a rubber duck wearing a wetsuit and goggles and flying red and blue burgees on the print, and this piece was purchased by a couple in Mpls who had read about my rubber duck project in the @startribune (see link in BIO). Thank you for the support, and thank you, AL, for your contribution to the piece!! #rubberduckart #thriftstoreart #thewonderfulworldof twincities
.
Epilogue- I fastened a dime to the back of the artwork as another quirky signature. Why a dime? The significance of the coin relates to Franklin D. Roosevelt who on March 16, 1934, signed the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, popularly known as the Duck Stamp Act, into law. This legislation raised crucial revenue from hunters to acquire and protect millions of acres of vital waterfowl and wetland habitats across the US. 🦆🦆🦆 by @seamusliamobrien

New #signpainting #mural up on a shipping container @borderlands380 in the quiet town of Brackney, PA (right on the border with NY state) 8x20’, latex paint on corrugated corten steel.

Borderlands is a new artist residency that is being built out in the rural hills of Pennsylvania - designed for the practicing artist who needs a nurturing space in a natural setting to advance a creative project. Tentatively opening 2027/2028.

Priming/painting for the mural took approx 4 days (plus an evening to project the image) Thank you @heather_willems (and the happy little elf) for your assistance and camaraderie! Thank you @chwilker and @tatiananikitina for the hospitality.
.
The nearest hardware store was about 30 minutes away so work started early and continued until the sun went down. At 7pm the cows would usually stop by and insist, INSIST, on fresh apples to munch on - so pushy. 🐄🐄
.
Painting on corrugated metal can be tricky, especially when painting straight lines, but heavy metal music helps 🤟🏼. Beyond having a synonymous relationship with the wall that I was painting, there wasn’t much else out there except trees, rolling hills, apple orchards, rabbits, deer, more trees, cattle, and tranquil evenings. Oh… and an excellent ice cream shop (I can’t remember what it is called but it is right next to the Mountainside Fruit Market).
This environment makes me think of that lyric from @talkingheadsofficial song, ‘Good place to get some thinking done’ #thewonderfulworldof by @seamusliamobrien

Hand-painted onomatopoeia words, inspired by the #batman66tvseries , are heading off to @ilikeyou_mn and #ILikeYouToo this week for purchase! That’s right folks, just in time for the @mnstatefair

🦇❄️🦇❄️🦇
Or… how about some hand-painted ❄️‘ICE COLD’❄️signs (6” diameter on wood) because what’s cooler than cool? Well, besides @outkast , it’s artwork from the 4th coldest state in America, that’s what!!!

It’s with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Zaso the Wonder Dog (formally known as Zaso the Wonder Pup). He was supposedly born in New Orleans, but Heather and I met him at an animal shelter in Queens, NY. (He almost looked like a toy back then.)
He was our constant companion, and he and I traveled all up and down the eastern coast together; PA, OH, IL, IN, WI, MN. Everywhere. That son of a bitch had a jaw of steel and he bit my ass more than I care to remember. I remember in Brooklyn he even pooped on poop, like who does that? This kid is hardcore!!
.
But… despite the drama he was my ceaseless comrade; always silently watching, always ready for a new adventure… always hungry for chicken. 😂 I want to believe he was happy in #minneapolis - and I think he was. Here’s to you buddy! RIP Thanks for everything. by @seamusliamobrien

What a fantastic evening @zhoradarlingpresents last night - It’s hot and the entire state is chocking on wildfire smoke, but what better way to celebrate than with some super heavy doom metal sludge!!
Chefs kiss to local favs @body612.fm and @melpomene_band for setting the mood. And UK’s finest @hailconan for creating a down-tuned monolithic, rumbling sonic attack!! The show was so loud you could actually feel your organs move 😂🤣👏🏻👏🏻, but as it should be with metal right? 🤟🏼🔥🤟🏼🫡🙌🏼 (But with that said, I don’t think my phone can really capture the sound.. maybe I need to stand in the back next time 🤷🏼‍♂️)
