Cheers to wrapping up a year of early mornings and late nights. Culinary recognitions and some freakin tough work. All while juggling a fearless baby, an angsty pre-teen, and a teenage son who will never be too tall for you to bring back down to earth. Hereā€™s to the woman who strives to give everything her all, all the time, and often, all at once. Could not have asked for a better role model for our family or a better friend for me than @juliesainte_ !! Happy birthday to you my love!! by @seanissey
Best is yet to come! Update post. Cash is hyped on his ā€œvintageā€ cd player. ā€œVintageā€ cds makes me feel old but cash still makes sure to tell me he loves me everyday. Regardless of how old I may be getting. Indigo started middle school. She drew on her converse after her first day. We have a secret handshake thatā€™s lasted for more than 6 months so thatā€™s pretty serious. Juniper loves to say ā€œthank you!ā€ which is pretty much the best. Second only to when i pick her up from school and she literally squeals when she sees me and started running to me. Thatā€™s a top favorite feeling. Actively looking into setting my grandma up with sainthood. She looks after our family in so many different ways and she does it because it brings her joy. She puts family ahead of everything. I love that the kids get to experience how that feels. So thankful that we are closer now than we have ever been. Julie shares her paranormal podcasts with me in the morning as we get ready for work. Sometimes itā€™s a little scary for pre-coffee morning but i thinks itā€™s a love language thing. So bring on the spooky. She works so dang hard. I see the behind the scenes. The late nights and early mornings. The texts and calls and emails. She doesnā€™t really sleep, but she lets me cuddle her while I sleep. And that makes me feel lucky. Hope everyone gets to enjoy the day with family and friends, or doing whatever makes you feel best. Thank you for being a friend. :)) by @seanissey
ā€œBut in the end, itā€™s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didnā€™t. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That thereā€™s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And itā€™s worth fighting for.ā€ - Samwise Gamgee (Happy Fathers Day yā€™all) by @seanissey
Couldnā€™t have wished for a better love than the one I found with @juliesainte_ ! Happy birthday to my forever favorite person! šŸ’–šŸÆšŸ’– by @seanissey
Could not be more grateful and honored to have made it onto @tampabaytimes @tampabaytimesfoodā€™s Tampa Bayā€™s Top 30 Restaurants of 2024 list! šŸ«¶ This has been one of most difficult transitional years both in our personal lives and for our businessā€¦ but our amazing community and friends continue to show up to support our little eatery in all its stages, so we continue to give it our all and do our best to grow, day in and day out! Above all, we are the most grateful to our kids Cash, Indigo, and Juniperā€¦ for just being the absolute most supportive and understanding. Mom and dad have worked super late nights, most nights, and every weekend almost nonstop for the last 2 years - through holidays and hurricanes too. Restaurant and hospitality kids are some of the toughest around, and we are so proud of them šŸ’ŖšŸ’• by @seanissey
lil pumpkin all patched out. āœØšŸŽƒāœØ by @seanissey
This week I got the call that my father was on life support without too much longer to live. To preface, I havenā€™t had contact with this man since I was a boy. He chose drugs and self destruction over my mom, my brother, and myself a long time ago. If you would have asked me a month ago how i would feel if I got the call that he was dying, I would have told you, ā€œGood riddance!ā€ ā€¦but when I did actually get the call what I felt was unexpected. Upon hearing the news I broke down. I felt like this man was never held accountable. I felt like he was getting the easy way out. I felt like I wanted to see him, at least once. No matter how brief. All I had was a few family photos and more than a few horrible family stories. I felt like I needed to see what this man looked like through the eyes of an adult. Laying in a hospital bed at 55 years old and weighing in at 95 pounds. I had to see. Left alone in a hospital room kept alive by machines and tubes. It felt deserved. Growing up I vowed to be the antithesis to this man. Like a mantra I would repeat to myself. Over and over. I swore I would be nothing like this man. When I was younger I thought that meant I needed to be perfect husband, the perfect dad, and I would never let down the people that loved me. Turns out. Thatā€™s easier said than done. I stumble. Make mistakes. Let myself down. You start to doubt how far the apple can fall from a tree. Yet in reality, he wasnā€™t the opposite of perfect. He was just a man who made the choice to leave and never show up for his family. I can be the opposite of that. Even if it was hard, I could show up for someone who never showed up for me. Last night I flew up to Atlanta. Me being the oldest son and next of kin. Picked up at the airport by my uncle, oldest sibling to his estranged brother. We went straight to the hospital. Watched as doctors pumped my fathers shell full of medicine and oxygen. He looked so frail. Far from an easy way out. I felt pity. My uncle Introduced me to him as he laid sedated. I said my piece. I was kind. Now as I fly home to the love of my wife, my kids, my crazy dog and cats. You really did miss out Chuck. But I sure wonā€™t. :) by @seanissey
The years fly by and one day your daughter turns 10 and youā€™re totally not crying looking though all the photos of her growing up. But then APRIL FOOLS!! Because you totally ARE crying. Indigo really is such a freakinā€™ awesome little person!!! šŸ„³šŸ„¹šŸŽ‚ by @seanissey
The past year has flown by! This past month alone we celebrated both of our birthdays, Juniperā€™s birth, and Indigoā€™s 10th birthday. All that said, one year ago we thought to ourselves, ā€œLetā€™s throw one more celebration in there!ā€ March will always finish strong with Mom and Dads anniversary! We celebrated our one year with one AMAZING experience at @roosterandthetill !!! Seriously couldnā€™t have left feeling more excited about the food, the crew, and the view! <333 by @seanissey
