20 weeks. Halfway there. ❤️

After everything we went through trying to get pregnant, it’s hard to believe we’re now just 20 short weeks away from meeting our beautiful little daughter. Something we dreamed about for so long is finally becoming a reality, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Watching you over these past few months has given me a whole new appreciation for you. You’ve been tired, sore, hungry, full, somehow still hungry while being full 😂, all while your body is doing one of the most incredible things in the world, creating a little life.

And through it all, you’ve still been by my side every night, helping me run our jiu-jitsu school, teaching classes, training whenever you can, and somehow still finding the energy to keep our home together. I don’t think you realize just how strong you are or how much I admire everything you do.

I already knew how lucky I was to have you, but watching you become a mother has made me fall in love with you in a whole new way. I can’t wait to watch you hold our little girl for the first time, to see the mother you’re going to be, and to give our daughter the same unconditional love I’ve always had for you.

March can’t come soon enough. I love you more than words can explain, and I can’t wait for this next chapter of our lives. ❤️

🥋 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY 🥋

This week, we’re working on Kani Basami as part of our current leg-lock block.

We’ve been having a ton of fun studying Robert Diggle’s instructionals and teaching these techniques in class.

Every Saturday, our No-Gi class is dedicated strictly to leg locks. If you want to sharpen your leg-lock game, feel free to drop by Saturdays at 12:00 PM! by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

We couldn’t be prouder of how far these kids have come! Watching them learn, grow, and earn their promotions is one of the most rewarding parts of being a coach.

So much talent in these two groups. And at this rate, they’ll all be beating us up one day! 😂🥋💚 by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

What an incredible two years! 💚

We had an amazing time at ERA’s two-year anniversary barbecue, celebrating two years since we opened the academy. We’re so thankful for all the students, families, and friends who have helped make ERA what it is today.

It was a pleasure to award Tony and Anika (@anika_gurecka @_tonyrobinson_ ) their well earned blue belts and to finally announce the newest member of the ERA team: little Mooney, arriving in March 2027! 👶💚

The gym has grown beyond what we imagined, and this is only the beginning. Big things coming soon 🤫😉 by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

It’s felt like a long time coming… and Sean and I are so happy to announce that there is a new little Mooney coming March 2027! 🤰🥹

We’ve been to Africa
We’ve gotten married
We’ve opened our business
We’ve built our garden (thanks Neg)

🎉 ERA IS TURNING TWO! 🎉

Come celebrate our 2-Year Anniversary with us! 🥳

We’re having a potluck BBQ at our place with good food, fun games, promotions, and more! Kids welcome!

📍 DM Lataya or me for our address if you can make it!

See you there! by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

Five years together today. Three years married next week.

The single most important decision you’ll ever make in your entire life is who you decide to marry. I got it right. My best friend and my wife, Lataya Mooney.

I love all of you. Your eyes, your toes, that laugh of yours, and the pure, kind soul underneath. I’m the luckiest man on the planet.

We’ve built so much in five years. Our own business. Our own home and land (farm animals incoming). Growing together the whole way.

I can’t wait for everything still ahead of us. There’s so much more coming, and I get to experience it with you.

Happy anniversary, I love you ❤️

Pressure doesn’t build character. It reveals it.

Every round is a chance to make a decision. Panic or adapt. Quit or keep moving. Force your way through or find the opening.

That’s one of the things I love most about jiu-jitsu. The lessons don’t stay on the mats.

Huge thank you to Pressure Pass Industries for spending some time with us and taking these awesome shots. If you’re looking for high-quality jiu-jitsu gear built by people who actually live the sport, go check out @pressurepassindustries by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

Another great night on the mats as we wrapped up our De La Riva guard block.

It’s awesome to see the room filling with people who work hard, support one another, and make this such a fun place to train. Thank you to everyone who trusts us with your jiu-jitsu journey and helps build the kind of culture we’re proud of.

We’re just getting started. Come train with us. by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

Watching these kids learn never gets old.

This week we worked on crab rides, inversions, guard retention, and back takes. Techniques that can seem complicated at first, especially for young athletes, but these kids continue to amaze us with how quickly they absorb new information.

One of the most rewarding parts of coaching is watching a technique get demonstrated, seeing the gears turn, and then watching them go out and start making it work with their training partners.

We are incredibly proud of the focus, discipline, and positive attitude this group brings to the mats every day. Their willingness to learn, help one another, and embrace challenges is what makes our academy such a special place.

Keep up the great work, team. Coach Sean and Coach Lataya couldn’t be prouder. 💚🥋

Happy Sean William John Mooney Day!

On this day 32 years ago, my person was born.

For many years, we lived separate lives, unaware of each other’s existence, and yet it feels like all of those years were preparing us for each other. Even after all that time, we’ve still been able to experience so many firsts together. Some of them have been easy, lighthearted, and hilarious. Others have been challenging. Through all of it, we’ve navigated life with a sense of security and faith, knowing that whatever we face, we face it together, and we always have one another for support. 👫

I’ve had many of my most embarrassing moments with him as my only witness, and he still chose to marry me.

I remember asking God for a certain kind of partner and a certain kind of life, and then everything seemed to come together, leading me directly to him. After that, everything started lining up: a new home, a new city, a new job, a community, a new sense of clarity, and a renewed sense of faith. 💕

Life with Sean is a blessing, and I’m grateful to share it with him by my side. I’m excited to see what the future has in store for us, and hopefully he’ll celebrate his next birthday with a baby in his arms. 👨‍🍼

Happy birthday Sean, I love you!! 😚 by @seanwilliamjohnmooney

Another great Monday night with our kids and adults classes.

It’s hard to put into words how grateful we are for the community that’s being built here at ERA. Every week the room gets louder, the energy gets better, and the team gets stronger. Watching this dream slowly become reality has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives.

Opening this gym has had its ups and downs. There’s been stress, sacrifice, and long days. But standing in a room full of good people working hard together reminds us exactly why we started.

We wouldn’t trade this journey for the world. Thank you to every single person who trusts us enough to step on these mats with us.
